I'll read anywhere I can be alone! Preferably though in my living room. For me, being able to go to the same place each time helps me get into the reading frame of mind quicker. I'm a creature of habit

I usually read right on my couch. I sit on side, and pull the cards, laying them out on the other cushion and then type it all up and viola! the reading! ![]() I even will read in the car, at times, (as a passenger), and hold the cards in one hand. that's a bit tricky, but I can do it. At home, we have no pets, no kids running around and the husband is more of an outside kind a guy and is rarely inside--so I also have the whole home to my disposal. But, you know what, I'd rather have all the hustle and bustle of the family--kids, dogs, cats, husband running around. Its just a bit too quiet at times, even though Tarot bears old personal room he had does sound wonderful too. I also do have a huge bar table, separating our dining room and kitchen and it is a great place to lay out a large spread, if I'm doing one. Then, I have two kitchens, so we also have two nice sized dining tables I can use. space is not a problem here. I often have clients calling me for a quick reading by phone or now and again they stop by to see if I can do a reading without an appointment, and I'm almost always able to do so. (these are customers that know me and have been with me for awhile) So, it is good that we have all these large tables available. Quote:
this gave me a good laugh! never tried the toilet or the bathroom for that matter. ![]() and Laura, I have not seen An American in Paris in years, and didn't remember that scene till I saw the clip you posted. Isn't it funny?! I am also use to reading in loud, crowded places, so it doesn't bother me if it is loud, crowded and crazy either. When I visit my family, I do readings for everyone there, and moms home was/is always like Grand Central Station. People coming and going, dogs running around chasing each other and barking, phones ringing and tvs from nearl every room blaring. I guess you can get use to anything.

Love that you (and Glass Owl) have a table at the ready all the time, but do see the disadvantage of it being small. Given me the idea to set up a portable table for myself....

oh! I forgot to add that if you read in bed or on the move. One thing that can help is the in hand riffle shuffle. You can find tutorials on youtube. a good one is by magicshadow9. Hope it helps. |

I usually read in bed. I have this big table I use for a nightstand, it's actually a very thick, solid wood hatchcover from a ship. They were very popular "beach house" tables years ago, but hard to find today, and very expensive - a friend of mine has a coffee table one that is to die for....but I came across mine at a 2nd hand furniture store, the seller didn't even know what it was and was happy to get rid of it for $20. So that is what I use, while sitting on my bed. But if I am reading for someone else, I'll use my kitchen table or kitchen island. |

I bet it is beautiful! and neater yet that you use it for your tarot card readings. I have visions of owning one that I would make into my "altar". I'd keep my crystals and statues and treasures and of course my cards too on it. *sigh* very nice!

Most of the time (while at home) I read on the bed. It has the most available space! There are two regular tables in our place, one in the dining room and one in the spare room (where the computer lives), but most of the time they're covered with stuff. Someday the one in the spare room will be for crafts, though I could read on it if I wanted to, but for some reason it doesn't feel that congenial. The dining room one would be great, but only if the TV were off; the living room is right across the hall and there are no closable doors there, and my husband has the TV on more often than not. For the same reason I don't want to read in the living room, though we often have a large old wooden card table set up in there. It does make me wonder what I would do if I were to do readings for others in our home; I can't be hauling people to the bedroom! Sometimes I've worked with the cards at the computer, on the wide but shallow desk on which it sits. Therefore there's no space there for large spreads! (It used to sit on the sewing machine cabinet; now that was a small surface!) |
