gregory, are you seriously suggesting that all those astrological symbols on the Angel Tarot cards are totally positive? __________________ 'Qui le Destin par trop fouille S'embrouille; Qui le consulte trop bien N'a rien.' - Quote from Madame Zezina, cartomancienne française, 1959 |

But not all tarot readers use astrological assosiations with tarot, certainly not the newer more xtian ones - so that signifigance would be lost on them. I think the folks who this deck is aimed at are going to be using the 'safe and gentle' keywords? __________________ Deep in the green; call loudly in the woods if you want me! |

You have a point, I may not have waited a year or so after getting my first oracle deck (Yes, it was an angel deck), if I saw one with the type of marketing and theme that DV has put out with the Angel Tarot. __________________ "This is the limit of my limits: here it is. When I use her angel cards, I do put negative meanings on them. My spread that I use mentions blockages/obstacles in a persons life and so I have to intuitively select what negative aspect can that card be telling me. For example, it could be that a person is missing something to do with that card in their life, or focusing way too much on it. Also her latest deck- the romance angels does have some cards that aren't super happy fun time. I think one deals with cheating/secrets/manipulation and another deals with separating. __________________ "This is the limit of my limits: here it is. I think it is great if it brings more people to Tarot, and helps to remove the stigma some people may associate to people who read the cards. BUT if all the meanings are safe and gentle as DV has herself stated then I'm worried these people will get an unrealistic view of what Tarot is... then they may be in for a rude awakening if they then do move on to another deck and see a man with 10 swords sticking out of his back, along with Death and his buddy the Devil grinning out them out of a pack. Life is not all happy and jolly, so neither should a pack of Tarot cards be either if it is to be of any use to someone. Even the Gummy Bears deck don't pretend that!

However, I don't want to be totally cynical. I want to see if there is any positive here to find. If this particular deck does act as a gateway for people to become interested in tarot who would not have otherwise been, is that a bad thing? I do think this deck has nice artwork but that is all it does for me. Nice artwork. And it is artwork she has churned out time and time again anyway. For those who read using keywords and titles may find they can work with this deck okay, so the artwork may well be secondary. Those who like to dive into the image and let their imagination go into film/story telling mode may well struggle. Watch this space I guess. __________________ Life is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you will get but hope it isn't going to be the coffee cream! |

As someone said - for total positivity you are looking more at an oracle deck. __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here.
