6 of Cups & Tower (no)Nonsense throws
There are times when we ask the cards a question and the answer just does not make any sense. Do you throw again? There are also times when we question weather a reading method is valid, say like using cards or using an online throw. Today my questions where answered and Ive come to the conclusion that no matter where, how or what your reading with, listen to the cards. Here is what happened: Today I was using an online reading site, and asking the cards a very specific question- like how a co worker felt about a certain situation that took place. For the life of me the cards did not make sense, it appeared to me total nonsense throws. My first throw was 6 of Cups, Tower and something else, I cant remember. Now to me that made no sense, cause u cant destroy the past. (six of cups and tower). So I threw again asking the cards to tell me what that meant. This time I got- 6 of cups, the tower in the middle and king of swords. Getting frustrated I threw again, this time i got: Ace of Wands, Page of Swords in the center and Reversed Ace of Cups. I got up and opened the window and saw some little kids playing outside and sat back down to throw again. Tower, Queen of Swords reversed and 7 of Wands. Next throw the King of Cups Tower, 10 of Pentacles...still not making any sense. By this time not only am I smelling smoke but my house filled with smoke--- and a commotion is going on outside, the kids in the yard had set the yard (pine needles) and my patio on fire...hence the 6 of Cups, the tower, and the Ace of wands, with the Page of Swords in the middle and Ace of Cups reversed, the 10 of Pentacles where all the neighbors in the apartment complex grabbing buckets of water to try to put the fire out before it consumed my bedroom! Those total nonsense cards now make all the sense in the world. Ace of Wands was the setting of the fire, by the kid, page of swords, and the pouring of water with buckets by the other kids, and their parents and eventually the fire department, and fire trucks and chief of fire department out here there with trying to put the fire out. That tower burning sure makes sense now, next to the 6 of cups, with those kids setting the apartments on fire. Wow is all I can say. The cards are nonsense when they are trying to call your attention to something. __________________ “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. Moderator Note
Could we stick to discussing either the 6 Cups/Tower combo, or the fact that sometimes the cards just present you with what seems to a totally nonsensical spread ... and not discuss the cards provided as further examples ... Thank you ![]() Wendywu Co-Moderator __________________ When I was a child/I caught a fleeting glimpse/Out of the corner of my eye La ilaha illa Allah |

another example
I also have a thought-provoking, yet essentially funny example, and just from yesterday. I use 4 oracles in my daily draws and journal some notes, and here is what I drew and what I wrote down at the time: Tarot: Page of Swords (Ludy Lescott): from the LWB: "How can you distinguish between friends and enemies? By their actions or their words?" Then I added: Stinging words, meant to hurt? or unwelcome truths? Aggression though not at the Knight level. DruidSticks: Puer: & I wrote: aggressive masculine energy. Conflict. Lenormand: 23 Mice + 31 Sun: Stressful times, exhaustion and anxiety. Hidden problems revealed. Challenging victory, hard to reach success. Runes: Ansuz + Othala: communications fom the ancestors or the 'old gods'. So, the day went along. I went to the gym, had a lengthy coffee and chat with a group of friends, and went to a movie. Nothing special happened. So, as always, I reviewed the cards and I suddenly realized that the oracles had laid out the plot of the movie in a stunningly accurate way. The Cabin the Woods. I hate to go into too much detail, as it would be a spoiler, but: conflict! aggressive masculine-type energy! stressful times and exhaustion! challenging victory! the 'old gods'!! wow! seriously, that is amazing. Since emotion is the fuel then tends to 'run' the oracles imo, the most emotion-producing thing in the entire day was the movie. __________________ Either the Darkness alters, or something in the sight Adjusts itself to Midnight, And Life steps almost straight. ~ Emily Dickinson |

Wow, that is interesting. Also, I good to see someone else using multiple oracles in daily draws. I did do my draw with the lenormand also with similar messages. I also think its weird how it all makes sense later, but can be perplexing when we get the cards. In your instance Alta, that is cool how day to day things are picked up by the cards, and this has been my greatest challenge. When we read the cards I think we look for specific remarkable occurrences, and its harder to read mundane or day to day things that the cards try to articulate. There are times i GUESS, when u just keep pulling because u know there is a message, ur just not getting it, but how does that differ from when you just stop pulling or stop reading? I don't think i would have understood or connected the original reading at all, if I had done one pull, and left it. Quote:

Cool. Thanks Wendy, sometimes it pretty hard to express my experiences. Maybe the title should not have detailed or included any cards. __________________ “The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. Hindsight is often the best way to understand what the cards are trying to tell you when you're not understanding the message at the time of the reading. That's why I always do my daily draws at the end of the day as review instead of at the beginning of the day as prediction. __________________ Smile. It makes people wonder what you're thinking.... |

that is very interesting... but doesnt it affect ur intuition? I mean in a way... when u do that in the morning, you will think and try to listen to yourself what the message could be also using your intuition... at night, you will just use your brain, oh yeah, that happened and thats it... its like learning from book, you read what it means but dont feel it with your intuition... what do you think? Im probably wrong... __________________ Enlighten yourself... |

Didn't have time to give an example earlier as I was trying to get out the door. When I was studying the Ancient Egyptian tarot, one day I got the 3 Swords as part of my daily draw. Even at the end of the day I couldn't think of any instance where there was heartache, sorrow, cutting truths, etc. Had I done the draw at the beginning of the day, I would've been looking out for those things the whole day. After wracking my brain and just about giving up, I realized what the card was talking about - I'd had a disagreement on IM with a co-worker during the day and at some point I just decided to let it drop, effectively turning my back on the co-worker/conversation like the guy in the card, who'd turned his back on the sobbing woman sitting on the bed. Now that I have the experiential meaning in my back pocket, it's much easier for it to come up intuitively now. So I see the one feeding into the other. And tying this back to the topic of the thread, what seems nonsensical at the time will usually make sense at some point down the road. So I wouldn't keep pulling cards until I get ones that make sense. I don't see that as being any different than continuing to do readings until one gets one they like. I prefer doing them at the start of the day. Sometimes it is advice, or warning or commentary on the day. It deepens my understanding of the cards to see them unfold over the day and to reflect back in the evening. I have very occasionally kept pulling cards, and I did that as long as, in my opinion, the cards seemed to still be unfolding the story. __________________ Either the Darkness alters, or something in the sight Adjusts itself to Midnight, And Life steps almost straight. ~ Emily Dickinson |
