Here are genuine French meanings:

If you want more search cartes petit Lenormand. I've gone through these, and they are pretty sound.

Thanks, I found this and it is interesting but no sources are listed and that is my problem with most references to the "French tradition" and why I started this thread. I want to be able to back it up with more than someone's say so (no offence to anyone here).
No, you can't find a source because I've collected them through people and readings (there, in France). I posted here my notes basically.

The one and only book that I have had on le petit lenormand was "La divination - Par les cartes du petit Lenormand" by Erna Droesbeke. I later lent it to a friend and have yet to see it again, so I don't remember off hand what it mentions. That said, I used it as a basis back when I first started and have since moved into my own definitions. I'd be curious to see how much I've deviated over the years...!

What has greatly influenced me since then is AT and everyone here. Sometimes they find uncanny definitions that I like, and they've since stuck too. I was also influenced by the lady who first showed me the cards... So it's just a hodge podge in my case, but I used to only read up down, sideways and diagonals. I've since added Treppner, but have kept to my own definitions.

Thanks LE!

There seems to be a lot of crossover between Dutch, Belgian and French systems. I suspect this may have something to do with the fact that fortune-telling was illegal in France from the early 19th century until recently, restricting what was published there.

Most of the books in Belgium on Lenormand are French based. Erna Droesbeke von Enge is the Lenormand book I had, it was published in Dutch, French, and English. The book is the basis of the Carta Mundi LWB.

Its like the Spanish school which is a subtype of the German. The variations come in interpretations

Thanks andybc, I have the English version of the Carta Mundi deck and the LWB is quite comprehensive. The information is from "Kartenlegen mit Mademoiselle Lenormand" by Erna Droesbeke.

Yep, it's all the same book. In England it was called "The Oracle of Mlle. Lenormand". For some reason there is problems with the rights, and hence why there is no new print.

You can still get it in Dutch, German, and French. When I recommended it on my blog, a few people said you could still find it in Australia second hand. It came with a copy of the Blue Eule deck.

It was a great a book - far more content than Britta, Mario dos Ventos or Sylvie's.

Is that the same book that I mentioned? La divination - Par les cartes du petit Lenormand
Erna Droesbeke? I know she has at least two.
