Yes, I'm waffling, too. I had two official weeks with Wheel of Change, an old friend from the past, yet I do not feel I've gotten enough out of it. All I did over that time was one important reading for an AT member, an on-the-go three card draw for a friend, and two on-the-go two-card draws for myself. How much is enough activity with a deck that you here feel you have gotten your "week's worth?" |

I think about half the time of my participation here I have had a 2nd week with my deck. and a few times I felt, that that was not enough either.... Over the years here I have at times done extended IDS studies and otherwise stuck with a new deck for at least a month at a time, to really get to know it and sink into it. But the problem is, that then "new" decks" start to accumulate and i fell more and more behind in getting to know them. Now with the busy summer season approaching and my time for Tarot explorations being severely limited, I am wondering, if maybe there could be a "deck of the month group"? I would have a few decks lined up for that kind of exploration - Mary-El for example, and 2 more weeks of Shadowscapes would be OK too...... __________________ .....in the woods - Greenwoods and others.... |

Deck of the month, interesting... You see, I don't want to end up with two Intensive Deck Studies on my hands. I am still working at my own pace with my IDS deck; to me, intensive deck studies are something I undertake with a deck I want to develop a long-term relationship with; they are things that are ongoing in life, the way some people take years with the Thoth, for instance. Just because they are studying the Thoth/Thelemic/Crowley/Golden Dawn-derivative system in great depth--which I believe many will agree is years and years of potential work---does not mean they want to forsake their whole deck collection for all that time. That's why Deck of the Week is an ideal complement to an IDS. On the other hand, I could see how when things really heat up in one's life, like they have over the past two weeks for me, and one only gets to snatch a few moments with their "circulation" deck, there simply isn't enough time to devote to tarot and a Deck of the Month would make more sense for that person. Inevitably, I'm sure the answers I'll hear back from others will be "it varies" and "it depends on the deck" and so forth. The same person might feel that five readings with Deck #1 is not enough to have gotten their week's worth, while one reading with Deck #2 sated them and gave them a solid sense of accomplishment with that deck. |

I think since deck of the week has no rules and many people do second or third weeks with a deck or even leave for awhile to do other things, that people can do deck of the month type exploration in here without needing a new group. I usually see DotW as an opportunity to get to know a deck I don't know well. Not master it, but past speed dating at least! |

"Speed dating" is sort of how I feel lately. Last week I did not even have time to write anything about my daily draws...... __________________ .....in the woods - Greenwoods and others.... |
