Thank you for this. Things have been coming to the fore on my readings concerning people who have crossed over. I was very confused for a long time - why did I sense these weird things in the first place? Then I would hear about a death from a friend of mine about their family member, or a story would surface from friends/family about person X and it would follow right along with the details in the spread..

This might have something to do with my recent fascination with Archangels and the like, but at least I'm not the only one!!

There are many a person who have unique skills and yet do not come forward or offer any assistance because of this sort of dogma that you have so perfectly illustrated here. In the very least, is Tarot not a tool in which we use to ascend in our own spritual consciousness? Is it beyond possibility that Tarot can connect with angels and those in the hereafter who wish to engage in conversation to those of an open mind? How can you stand in judgment of someone else's experience and use it as a weapon to negate what they think is real and true to their being?

Sincere apologies to you, canid. You did not say that you received replies when you talk with the dead, and I assumed you were claiming that you did.

I do not in any way claim to communicate significantly with the dead - but one very dear friend died a couple of years ago, and he is the only dead person I do talk to, partly because I miss him so much, and partly because - well, even when he was alive I used to speak to him when I was far away from him. And - since he died (but not when I was talking to him "in absentia" when he was alive) sometimes I do hear his VERY distinctive and gravelly voice giving me terse and biting advice, just as he used to in life. Oddly enough, his wife picks up on him too - and she is not into any of "our" stuff.

These things are very variable, I think, and we do not understand them all. I don't think I would ever try and use tarot to do this; just that I do still feel connected to this guy - and I don't at all to anyone else - even to my father, who died a while back. With him - nada. So I wouldn't discount the possibility of answers.

As an OT aside, the UK police have just said that they have reason to believe Madeleine may still be alive, and they have 195 new leads they want to follow up, but the Portuguese police are refusing to re-open the enquiry.

Kind of on topic and kind of off, I often wonder about the whole talking to the dead thing.
If there was no control and the dead know you can hear them I imagine that there would be thousands of them yelling/screaming, or possibly worse whispering at you all at once.
After all we know how considerate people can be when they all want the same thing (ever been to a boxing day sale?)

Just wondering as supposedly the first sign of insanity is hearing voices ;-)
And for those of you that talk back to them, thats supposedly the second sign.

Not poking fun at anyone, tis just something that I wonder about.

No worries. I do have a psych history - but if that were it there are quite a few others I would be interested to hear from. It is ONLY this guy I pick up on.

I don't believe that I have any overt psychic skills but I know people who do talk to the dead and have the dead speak back to them with and without tarot cards. They aren't 'claiming' anything - they do it, it's fact.

I have recently thought about doing a Tarot reading on my close friend who had passed away, i think now after some unexplained experience that has happened in my home recently i do feel my friends presence even more around me, what if they are desperately trying to make contact with you and letting you know they are watching you grieve

I go to spiritualist group each month that concacts passed spirits, and my friends energy comes through so often it's incredible, sometimes it can be over whelming with tears and sadness, but i do feel it's a need for them to know that they are often near us.

As for who & why I contact the dead, it's very personal & fulfilling. I've gotten some amazing results. Sometimes I use tarot, sometimes a black mirror, a crystal ball, or sometimes just *air*. Never really thought about solving crimes, but why not? I've used tarot pretty successfully to locate lost items around the house.

Even if I thought such a thing was possible, I would never contact the dead, as I find it lacking in respect. Let the dead rest, they have done their part for the world, and have moved on. I hate it when work calls me when I'm on vacation, I would be very put out if I was bothered with this world after I'm dead. Death is not something that merely happens to us, there is a reason for the limited time we have on this earth.
