Weird! O_o Cards not about the question?
I'm still a little spun over this happening, and I'm not sure what to do/think. I did a reading this morning, on a topic of close personal interest to me. It felt like a very good reading, and I feel like I have a lot to learn from the reading as I ponder over it. I cut the deck 4 times, and put one card from the spread back into each cut. I wanted to keep practicing, so I decided to do a hindsight reading (reading on an event that recently happened). I prepared myself mentally by reminding myself that I am doing this reading for the purpose of learning the cards, and I think focused as much as I could on the question, rather than on the answer that I already knew. If you haven't read my similar thread, the idea is that by knowing what the answer is "supposed" to be, I can perhaps make better connections between the cards and the message they are trying to convey. I shuffled several times, and I did a 3 card situation/action/outcome spread. The first card not only seemed about as far from the situation as one could imagine, but it was also from my previous spread. Threw me off a little, left me feeling like I wasn't drawing the right cards and thus it's not a "genuine" reading. Turned over the second card - also from my previous spread! Flipped over the third card instantly - not from my previous spread, but a significant player in a couple of recent spreads that are related to the major issue of my previous spread. How would you interpret this? It could be a "challenge" for me to learn the tarot, try to make any association between the cards and the event that I asked about. I doubt this. It could be residual energy from the first spread (the one I really cared about, not the one that I was doing as a study lesson), and thus doesn't really mean anything. More likely. But what I really wonder is if these cards were thrown at me to provide more thought/advice on the previous spread. Any thoughts on how you might interpret the message of the second spread? |

To add to the above ... a few hours later, I was reading some other posts and it occurred to me that I had not calculated the summary card for my first reading. I did so - and it was the 3rd card of this spread!!! What gives? I think it has to be related, period, though whether it's just a reflection of residual energy or a stronger message is not clear to me. |

Especially since you were reading for yourself, it could be tarot's way of saying, "You didn't quite get the message the first time around, so I'm going to show it to you again." It could be that you got most of the message but missed a part or it could be that you got the original message wrong. But it definitely sounds like whatever energy is involved wasn't ready to let you move on to the next subject yet. You don't mention anything about how you shuffle and select the cards or put them back into the deck after completing a reading. If you put all three cards back into the deck in a group, however you shuffle may not have been sufficient enough to completely separate them. Whenever I'm putting the cards back from a reading, I stick individual cards into random places in the deck. That way if they all came back up, it would be something to make me stand up and take notice. HTH, Rodney __________________ Smile. It makes people wonder what you're thinking.... |

Hi Rodney, Thanks for the feedback. I can completely see what you are saying about "you didn't quite get the message," and I think you're very right. That could result in either a "spend more time on this!" message (which I was planning to do anyway) or a pointed jab at the summary card (which is a little more like what it felt like when I stumbled across that fact!) It sounds to me, based on your comments, that you sound like it is more the latter, and I tend to agree with that. I did mention how I put the cards back, since I felt that was relevant, but maybe it didn't come out so clear so I'll try again. When I say "cut the deck 4 times" I mean lifting one section (and sticking a card there) and then lifting a part of that lifted section, and then a part of that lifted section, etc, until each card had its own new position, not near the other cards. I found that especially relevant, because I would say 90% of the time, I tend to leave the cards together - but this time I felt it was important to spread the cards. I have also seen that, if I get cards from the previous reading, I almost always (95%+) get just one of those cards, so I feel like I tend to shuffle well. And of course, I didn't actually draw the 3rd card in the previous spread (so who knows where it was in the deck) - but it was still very relevant!Still spinning from this ... |
