Hi Cat* - had long conversation with all the mods about where it should be, so I wouldn't dare move it! But maybe they would eventually - maybe when we see what comes out of it. Thanks for joining in

I'll have a go with the High Priestess Intriguing idea this and I'm tempted to print them all out to try a spread. All that white space. The relationships between the cards would be fascinating.

Hi DD - I've booked your place at the table ![]() I haven't thought to try a spread yet. I think I'm a tad wary of majors-only spreads – but that's because I'm newer to it than some people, I think. The majors in every position seem as if they will overpower me! Do tell us how it goes if you do it. Looking forward to your High Priestess. Have a good day! |

Firstly I just want to say that I love this deck. I’d like to cook up some minors for it; just a digit and a word for the suit in a font somehow representative of it. I don’t want to use symbols. I’ll need to do a bit of searching, I think. Now, Strength. I chose this card because whether or not I am happy about it, it’s the card I draw more than any other major and it recurs very frequently in my daily draws and personal spreads, and always has. This example of the card is very evocative at first glance. The whole feeling produced is one of strength, and all that is implied by the word just bangs out at you;Strength beats you over the head with sheer brute force! That however is just the first look at the card. With a second glance and deeper consideration I see other aspects of the card. Look at the “e”s, so curvy, embracing and inclusive. They bring me a feeling of warmth and invitation. So this isn’t really the kind of strength that forces something on you; it’s the kind that invites you to recognize it within yourself because if you do, you’ll accomplish far more than if you struggle on as you are. I’m seeing the “RE”s together as a standout as well. For me, that’s very relevant although it might not be to others. Legal papers declare themselves to be “In re” something or other. In other words they are concerning a specific matter and so I see the card as inviting me to find my own strength not generally but in relation to some aspect of my life where it is needed. After all, I don’t really want to be totally focused and determined in every area of my life; how exhausting! It is just that here and there where absolute strength of will and purpose is most definitely required if anything is to be accomplished. I then turned the card on its side and saw a series of “w”’s staring up at me. It was the only letter showing from that view of the card – do messages get any more pointed? I looked at the card as a reversal too and at this angle it is the “n”’s and “G”’s that I see. In the “G”’s it’s like the way forward is blocked because my strength is being used in the wrong way, it is there but can’t go anywhere; the way is blocked for some reason and my efforts rebound upon me. The reversed “n”’s interest me; they form obstacles to get over with a big wall to face once you’ve staggered safely down that huge hill. Again, problems, difficulties to get over and then a possible absolute blockage after you get through them – because strength is being applied in the wrong way, or is blocked altogether. All in all I loved this card, it was relevant, fascinating and incredibly easy to work with. I shall definitely be printing out the others and I might even use coloured fonts, after considering which colour to use for each. If anyone has any ideas in that direction I’d be glad to read them

Great take on it! Funny thing is, I might have missed all that - which just goes to show. I just loved what I immediately saw as the "tower" of strength and the way strengths pile up when we start to use one. I hadn't contemplated further, but now I shall see all your things too! |

I was actually going to suggest that we have a little reading exchange with these not-cards in this thread - I can find a three card spread and we can just have a bash at it? Just three cards .... anyone? __________________ When I was a child/I caught a fleeting glimpse/Out of the corner of my eye La ilaha illa Allah |

may i take justice please; this card has come up toooo many times latley. Thanks soooo much I took a look at this justice card its position sits three quarters up the card to me this indicates its status high ranking and respected, The boldness of this card stands out its clean, bold, firm and has stance, justice is about to be taken. The Cards spelling is spread from one edge of the card to the other, this indicating that nothing will pass by this card all will be revealed nothing is going to slip through, all sides are protected. The letters are sharp edged and very strong indicating that this card is serious doesnt crumble when the pressure is on. the large letters in this card show extravert and outgoing. this is my views on this justice card. __________________ thank you and may the angels be with you Last edited by louiseb; 12-05-2012 at 18:45. |

The Lovers
The Lovers card has the least 'impressive' layout of all the cards in this deck. Just 'the lovers.' Plain sans-serif typeface, no capitals, letters are neither big nor small, and the words are centered both horizontally and vertically on the card. (Picture here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3024662/lovers.jpg) At first, I was unimpressed by this card. All the others seem so much more exciting, with their spunky layouts and personable typefaces! But the card really drew me in. Simple. Plain. Lovers. Front and center. Not hiding. Not bragging. Not pretending to be anything but what it is. Balanced. At rest. Centered, even when you turn the card upside down or sideways. Just two people, content with each other. I imagine them holding hands while walking down the street, even though there's nobody there to observe it. This is a very specific kind of love. Not the 'ooh baby!' type. Not the 'he loves me, he loves me not' type. Not lust, not infatuation, not possessiveness, not codependence, not powerful transforming bliss. Just a simple 'you, me, this.' Reminds me why the Lovers is usually air-attributed, and not to the (thematically more obvious) cups or wands. This card also gave me a new perspective on the 'choice' aspect of the Lovers card. Even though I like to think of myself as a decisive person, I hate having to choose between two things I BOTH want. So, the 'choice' in the Lovers, whether it's between two loves or between love and something else, always seemed anxious and fraught and impossible. I thought the card was about HAVING to decide, FORCING yourself to decide because it was the right thing to do. But this card shows me that it's about the moment where OPTIONS meet TRUE WILL and it turns out there really only is one choice - the right one. Simple. Peaceful. This. Now. It's about the moment when the church and the guests and the flower arrangements and the reverend all fade away, and there's only one person in the room. And that person is yourself. Because unless you choose to say "I do" to yourself in all respects FIRST, there is no way to ever get to the point where you can say "I do" to anyone else and mean it the way this card teaches us to. |
