Rosetta Tarot-The Hanged Man XII

This card shows a man hanging upside down by his left leg. There is a halo around his head the way saints or enlightened beings are often portrayed. His eyes are closed and he looks serene despite his precarious pose. His arms reach toward the earth, roots growing out of his hands. Although he's upside down from our point of view, he's grounded.

There's a geyer of water behind him relating to Mem, the Hebrew letter associated with this card. The water splits into two columns.

He's held in place by an upside green ankh which is secured to the tree by three white nails-the three columns of the Tree of life or mind, body, spirit? A green serpent extends down the ankh and wraps around the man's leg. I see this as another symbol of kundalini. Twelve rays of light emanate from the center of the ankh. The ankh is the union of the rose and the cross (female and male).

A heart hangs off a branch on the rigHt of the tree (Pillar of Mercy). There are bees around the heart (Venus symbol?). The heart is regarded as the center of feelings. This card relates to feelings because it represents the element of water. The heart of the Tree of Life is Tiphareth which is associated with redeemer, Christ type figures. The cross with triangle (his legs) shows spirit descending into matter.

There is a grid behind the figure of blue (emotion) and yellow (intellect). The green background is Venusian.

I know Crowley thought that this card was obsolete in the Aeon of Horus because it dealt with sacrifice. I think if you see it as the union of the personal self with the Higher Self, it is still meaningful. To allow that kind of union feels as if we are sacrificing ourselves, like a kind of death of the personality. And that leads into the next card . . .

Sorry I missed this for a few days. Here is a picture of the card.

I've been in a sort of hanged man state lately...but it feels as if it is coming to a change soon.
