A few years ago I picked up an original edition Alchemical Tarot set on eBay for a $12.50 USD Buy It Now. Since I already had a set that had cost me about $100 I traded the new one with Scion for a Tarot de la Réa which I still own and treasure today.

But my real coup was finally getting my long sought after Goose Is Out Tarot about five years ago. Never heard of it? Consult your Kaplan. Jeannette at Tarot Garden had quoted me $400 as the going price when it could be found at all. But one day on German eBay it showed up with a starting bid of €24. I bid the minimum to hold it but didn't bother to cover myself with a higher bid since I expected to be seriously outbid beyond my means before the end of the auction. In fact there were no other bidderss and I got it for about $35 including shipping by air from Germany.

Of course this story will mean nothing to the almost all of you who've never heard of this deck, but it meant a lot to me.

I got a new, cellophane-wrapped Victorian Romantic a couple of weeks ago for about $20 from a shop here in Japan. I also found the Piatnik and Mystical Lenormands for about $3 each. How do you say no to that?

You don't. You buy them all and sell them here!

(Oh, and any Vieville you may come across...)

A few years ago now ... two Norse Tarot sets (including clamshell case), one of them shrinkwrapped, for $28 total, Canadian, in a local shop. The same shop I got a $25 Buckland Romani set at before the reprint.

Also, past eBay bargains: a Vandenborre Bacchus for 1 euro. A $28 Granny Jones set. A $12 (shipping included) '68 Albano Waite. I'm sure there are more ...

Errr, I just ordered a Vieville yesterday for about $40 US. I'm not sure I'd exactly call that a bargain per say, however.
