I've been quiet about my "study" this week because I've been so busy -- with the study. The book has been humming along especially quickly now that I've tightened my outline and cut a lot of extraneous information. The original plan was that the book would run into the hundreds of pages, and while I have no doubt (being a prodigious writer who types very quickly) that I would be able to finish a tome like that in a month or two, I don't have the luxury of taking that time off. So, smaller companion book, but no less informative. Some of the card descriptions have been an absolute delight, terribly fun to write, while a few have been just mind-numbingly difficult. Treading that fine line between meeting the expectations of experts and being simple and clear enough for amateurs is rather hard! Tomorrow I'll be working on simplifying the weird court system I've come up with for this thing, which is going to require...a LOT of tea. The marvellous thing is -- well, how it almost feels like I didn't make this deck. I keep finding deeper and deeper nuances in the cards that I didn't intentionally place in them. Or maybe I did, and I'm just rediscovering them, since the creation of the deck was an insane whirlwind of activity amidst other life chaos. I tend to get somewhat jealous of people who can pick up a deck and have it be their boon companion, to constantly be finding new and deeper meanings in the cards, and it's weird to have found those nuances now, in places I didn't consciously plan for them to be. What a magnificent engine the brain is! I think I might have to come back and study this one another week, so I can actually do readings with it, instead of sitting my arse down in front of the keyboard for a week!

I've been having a pretty good week with the Norse Tarot and Rune Cards. I haven't had time to post my daily draws and the first few readings had me confused. I'm finally beginning to have a rapport with the Norse, which is funny because the week is almost over. It's such a beautiful deck and I can tell I really love it. Usually, if I don't click with a deck fairly quickly it gets traded away. |

cool username moonlightpoison ![]() We are pretty simple here, the only sort of consistent thing is use a different deck each week. that isn't law though...some decks wish to be cuddled for a second week. In short, it is just a way to use all the different decks you might have. Some of the participants here have a dozen or less, others have hundreds. There is a specific rider waite study forum, don't ask me where it is If you were wishing to do an in-depth study of or with your deck. Welcome to AT, I do hope you will join us, the fun is in the journey. edited to add: I just looked at your profile, you have plenty of decks ![]() Nikki usually starts the new week's thread on a Friday and I think we are pretty evenly divided about starting the new deck on Saturday or Sunday. I start on Sunday. Many of us blog with out deck, just click on the usernames to visit the various webpages. Last edited by AJ; 31-05-2012 at 12:30. |

At the end of each week (Friday-ish, it isn't set in stone), we pick a new deck to work with, and read and study with only that deck (and sometimes an oracle) for the next week. Sometimes more, if we feel we haven't finished with it. Some of us have been here for a few weeks, and some of us for upwards of thirty weeks! Newcomers are always welcome. |

Alamaris, we cross posted. your blog link isn't working in your profile. I know I should know, but can you give a link to your deck that you are writing the book for? That sentence would make my English teacher faint. Wouldn't surprise her though... |

I've been having issues editing my profile lately (not sure if anyone else has been, if the "favorite decks" box is empty it won't seem to work?) but I believe it's been updated properly now. It leads to my Tumblr for the time being, which has very little tarot-related gubbins on it currently, mostly because I haven't decided whether to start up a seperate blog for pagany and taroty things. But there's info there under the math tarot tag. Only visit if you're not upset by blathering and a lot of caps-lock excitement! ![]() There's also the creation thread, somewhere...ah! Here. Diagram that sentence, I dare you.

Golden Dawn (Wang) is going well - I like the simplicity of the artwork, though the white space on the pips gets a bit much for the lower numbers! But once you get past the glare of all that white, the colors are nice. It isn't as sexy as the Golden Dawn Magical Tarot (all those flashing colors! Oh my!!), but it is still a well thought out deck and it does the job. |
