GREENWOOD ! on ebay !

Not sure where to put this - but for those desperately searching - there's a GREENWOOD on ebay: start price £200.00 - not bad at all, I think ?

Just saying.... and the seller's feedback is good. (no it isn't a friend; someone just told ME !)

Thanks, gregory. A very interesting scenario with this particular deck.

one sold a week ago (or just over) for 95.00 GBP, which I thought was cheap. Ye all missed it but I saw it and didn't buy it...

Plus I'm against these heads up

Somebody somewhere will be sobbing with this "heads up", gregory , but then I don't think it's that cheap... I paid less for both of mine...

My interest is that I find nothing particularly desirable about the Greenwood Tarot, and I've always been curious as to why others do, and why this deck should command such a price.

Sorry leffy - but people might have missed it - when it is uk, US readers often never see them. Anyway - rwcarter got one for $8 last week !!! And when the price isn't a total steal - well, I did it anyway, as I happened to be told about it. You know I don't usually.

Why the high price in general, zezina ? - because it will genuinely never ever be reprinted. It can't be - Potter holds the copyright and has gone to ground. That's why, mostly. With others, people hope and dare to hold off and wait.

And you know what surprises me after a good few years in tarot, that really if you wait and hold out, most decks end up getting reprinted anyway. Decks creators can't resist it. It really isn't worth paying high prices. Think of all those people who paid high prices for the Hermetic in the late 90s or 2000s. And the Alchemical. If you just hold out, they end up becoming available again. Victorian Romantic, Bohemian Gothic. Even the Ironwing will be out in a few years. Probably.

The Greenwood, proably not but then you never know. People have changes of heart...

Yep, that's how I'm going to find my folchi ferrara deck, too.

I got my Greenwood for pretty cheap - it was out of print but not the crazy prices you see now - I think mine was around...I want to say, 40 or 50? US? Because I remember paying 113 for my rock and roll tarot first edition and being APPALLED at paying that much. Worms. Turning.

I like it because of the pagan theme. Not being christian myself, it was one of the few decks out there that I liked that didn't feel contrived at the time. I like the majors better than the minors, but I still find it a quite a nice deck.

I loved it at first sight for the look of it. It was just oop and the store owner as an act of kindness sold the open sample copy to me for a little less than the retail price. Later I found 3 more sets at a small used bookstore for $10., $15,. and $20. (I'll take the secret location of this shop to my grave.. )I ended up selling two, giving one away and still have the third.
I don't generally admit to being a Greenwood magnet, but hey, I'm among friends.

I came to love it for the magical pagan places it took me, and my first beginning education into shamanism and the animal powers. It has enriched my life considerably. I think it takes a lot of people that way...not just the rarity, but the art an the content move a lot of people deeply.

I think I saw that Greenwood (I had ebay set in AUD but it was ridiculously cheap - maybe $150 from memory?) and would have pounced on it if I'd had the money

And magpie, that's incredible! What luck!
