Sacred Sites: 9 of Swords:

Mi-Shell

9 of Swords:
The wailing Wall:
Huuuuuge blocks of stone, weeds growing in the cracks between them.
This is a strange scene: A Jewish schoolar is sitting at a desk.
Dressed in traditional black garb and wide brimmed black hat he is hunched over, elbows on his knees, hands cradling his face.
Is he engrossed in his studies of the Torah before him, or was he reading, but now is overwhelmed with grief?
The many candles that surround him attest to one thing: He is “burning the midnight oil”
To pay homage to the suffering of his people or to escape his own personal nightmares, that would taunt him, where he asleep at this time.....
This image again puts a new spin on the RWS meaning of the 9 of Swords, which is often called the Lord of Despair and Cruelty.

I personally an wondering if indeed there are study desks like this one at the Wailing Wall or if, in his mind every devotee creates his own image of the Wailing Wall in his mind...

The RW 9 of swords represents guilt, worry, the darkest hour before the dawn...

In the Sacred Sites card I can see the anguish on this mans body language. He is slumped forward with his face in his hands. Is he crying? What is he so sad about?
