Med. on the Tarot - Foreword

HOLMES

ah the english version,

it is called the forward.

the unknown freind was intedned to be anyone who all the letters address to them, and in doing so will acquire information and knowledge through experience of mediative reading about christian hemeticism. they will know that the author of the letters have said more them of themselves then they could possibly know, no matter what they know by studying the letters they will know the author.
this is paraphrased and in my own words the first paragraph.
the letters were clearly not intended for anyone person but universal in nature like the tarot is. the author would of revealed more about himself in the context but also in theory more of the reader then the reader might expect. and so they will know the author as a freind, a teacher and perhaps as part of themselves .

the letters were written in french due to the large amount of tarot material in the french language, but it is more then that , it appears that there is a "continous tradition of hermeticism "and it united the two loves into once research. the purpose of the letters to put it into my own words to show a relationship between the two and that people will understand that which was mythos or feared.

as the letters are "intended to serve, to sustain, to support the hermetic traditon "they are "a definite manifesation of this millennium-old current of thought, effort, and revelation "
these letters are not only therefore a thought on how tarot relates to the hermetic traditation but also on the general nature of that traditation and how it evolved.
so the "their aim is not only to revive the tradtion but also and ablve all to immensethe reader, )or rather the unknown freind ) in this current , be it temporiarily or forever"
accordingly this isn't meant to be a bible, but rather to share the very heart of that which the author felt was important to not only understand the hidden spiritual nature of the tarot from that point but also to give signposts that if one should love what they read where to go from here.

the authors mentioned in this text of ancient and modern times are not for literar considersations, (which means to me to prove a point), they are "evocations of the masters of the tradition, in order that they may be present iwth their impulses of aspiration and with their light of thoughts in the current of mediative thought which these letter on the twenty two major arcana of the tarot represents "
this mean that they are to bring the energy of their knowledge and spiritual soul beliefs to the writings you read to give them colour and to shed their own light onto the 22 major arcana.

"for these are in essence twenty two spiritual excerises by means of which you dear unkown friend will immerse yourself in the current of the living tradition, and thus enter into the community of spirits who have served it and who are still serving it" so by studying these chapters which are really spiritual excerises as you consider them , you will become a part of the living tradition, which by defination becomes only dead when no one knows about it , or carries it on , if only in their hearts .
you will enter into the community of the spirituals , who have served the tradition, and who are still watching over it.

"for the links in the chain of the tradition are not thoughts and efforts alone , they are above all livings things, who were these thoughts and will these efforts, the essence of tradition is not a doctorine, but rather a community from age to age"

the energy you feel is not just based on the throughts , but the actual living energy behind the throughts for tradition hints at right way of thinking while these letters are intended to extend the community of spiritual lovers, and believers of man , from time to time, to space and space.
be it well with you .
