Dream Enchantress. VIII Justice

This is a fairly traditional Justice card. Justice sits on a stone throne under an arch-shaped window lined with a burgundy curtain. Justice wears a rich-looking purple gown and burgundy cloak. In one hand she firmly holds a long sword pointing down, in the other she gently holds a scale. Behind her are two primitive looking stone heads which are reminiscent of some of the masks worn in this deck. Also behind her is a statue of a bird kissing(?) a snake. To me, the stone heads seem to suggest the ancient nature of justice--how our laws are built on centuries of experience and backed up by that accumulated wisdom. Sort of like how British judges wear those 18th century wigs! As for the bird and snake statue, this could represent innocence and guilt, perhaps.
