[QUOTE=Gwynne] And there's a no name Italian deck currently at $115 with 8 days to go. It's dated from the late 1800s to early 1900s so will probably go high as well. The "no name" Marseilles, mentioned is a deck published by Alessandro Viassone of Turin, circa 1890. It can be seen on page 390 of the Encyclopedia of Tarot, volume II __________________ Wise men change, fools never. - F.F.Young |

I may have verified the tax stamp on the Viassone...
the seller did the homework...I found another Viassone picture scans online and compared my 1940 Viassone tax stamp and the circa late 1800 one...the dating looks to be as the seller said. I bid a little on the ebay deck, but decided my damaged double-ended Viassone is fine. It was free with other deals that I did a few years ago, so I'm okay with its age and damage...it's a full deck. I usually go for repros anyway. Best, Cerulean __________________ Still, cerulean surges... where, as sunset lingers Eve with golden fingers... Hector A. Stuart South Sea Dreamer, 1886 |

I was browsing ebay today, and was watching a healing earth tarot. Bidding just ended at $279.00 us. Too much for me. BB Dakini __________________ When the ship of your spirit hits the reef of matter, it's the reef That's smashed to pieces. Richard Bach |

1979 Hornsteiner Leo Tarot Deck
Just caught the end of an interesting auction on eBay for a deck I'd never heard of before, the Hornsteiner Leo Tarot. It ended up going for $76 - as I've never seen this deck before, I have no idea if that was a high or low price for it. It looked like an interesting deck, though. |

It's a German deck that uses Astrology along with tarot. There are twelve versions of it, one for each sign. The only difference in the versions, is the zodiac cards. I have the Cancer version, since I'm a Cancer. I've seen the Pisces, and Leo, but wouldn't mind seeing the rest. __________________ Wise men change, fools never. - F.F.Young |

"There's a Nightmare Before Chistmas deck?! How'd I miss that one..." The ONLY people who got that deck were the ones who attended the original sneak preview showing at Disneyworld (or something like that, it was a very limited run and only the people who were there to see the sneak preview of the movie got the 'freebies'). Most likely the only place you'll see them would be up on eBay as people sell them off. It was never commercially available and the run they did on it was very small. So with the deck you're not only bidding against tarot collectors, but also the Disney memorabelia collectors, which isn't fun. __________________ You can give a cat a fish, and he'll eat for a day. I'm still looking for an Alchemical. All of the ones I've seen on E-Bay have gone for over $100. I also saw 2 on Amazon and both went for around $110. I'm still hopeful though that I'll catch one at a reasonable price; I think you have to just keep looking. Hope I get lucky! __________________ "You know, sometimes I think you've got icewater in those veins and other times I think you're just a naive little schoolteacher." Colonel Tigh to Laura Roslin |
