inverted cards = retrograde planets?
I'm not a student of astrology, but would the inversion of cards and retrograde movement of planets be a fair analogy to make? Also, if it is applicable - how important are retrogrades to astrologers? ie: would they considering 'reading' w/o retrogrades?... All input is appreciated! |

i believe that when a planet is in retrograde it begins to work in reversals for that time. ie: mercury in retrograde means: miscommunication (as mercury rules communication) others will know more. in light, jade

It also means not a good time to start new things connected to the planet and sign and house in your chart, more of a time to go over, review, relook at some of the things that happened in connection with the planet/sign/house. Other obstacles or conflicting energies can prevents the forward movement of the planetary energy. The most notorious one that people seem to notice in their day to day affairs is mercury. Not a lot is said about any of the others. The outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto as well as the Moon's nodes, spend a great deal of time retrograde and the effect is not that noticable in day to day affairs. Many astrologers say when the outer planets are retrograde the energy turns inward, a time of looking at who and what you are, and reflecting on what changes need to take place internally. Hi, Arguably in a well shuffled Tarot deck there should be a 50/50 chance of a reversed card - though if you, like me, tend to put them back in order after a reading this will not hold! There is not an equal chance of planets being retrograde - indeed the Sun and Moon are never retrograde. This is like having a Major Arcana that can never have reversed cards. Of the remaining planets, the chances of having a retrograde ranges from 7.7% with Venus through to 44% with Pluto but even this is not the 50% chance of a reversed card. Retrograde planets arguably internalise their energies in the sense that their energy is focussed inward rather than outward. Mercury retrograde is more akin to your computer doing its internal housekeeping or defraging the hard drive. Its trying to get its communication system into some sort of order and clarifying perspectives. If you try and do something new whilst this is going on then it is at your own peril.
