Pages and Kings

Fulgour

Looking at the clothing and various aspects of the
Pages, they seem to be from other, related suits.

A Page was a noble youth, sent at an early age to serve
in the court of a noble family. Since in the Tarot, the four
elements sometimes work as complementary forces, we can
relate the suits in a cross-over manner, like a bridge to
join the opposites of Fire and Water, Air and Earth.

CUPS daughter of Swords
This is a very imaginative Page, rather like Swords, and
her stance suggests a fencing attitude. Water and Air
are Yin and Yang, but not opposites, they compliment.

SWORDS daughter of Cups
She is so emotional, just look at her lonely determination.
And she is out in the fields without any hat or other gear,
so unlike an airy swordsman, though she will succeed!

WANDS daughter of Pentacles
Is she going to plant that Wand? I think she's from the
Earth suit (her helmut matches Dad's boot there).
Fire and Earth bridge the way to link Water and Air.

PENTACLES daughter of Wands
Here is a Sun-worshiper if ever I saw one, truly a daughter
of Fire. She hardly notices the little flowers underfoot, and
away in the distance are the plowed fields ~ unthought of.

Independently, I think the Pages correspond with the
Phases of the Moon ~ something for another post...

Elemental Compliments

YANG: Fire and Air
Fire is opposite to Water
Air is opposite to Earth

YIN: Water and Earth
Water is opposite to Fire
Earth is opposite to Air

YANG to YIN
Fire can relate to Water through Earth
Air can relate to Earth through Water

YIN to YANG
Water can relate to Fire through Air
Earth can relate to Air through Fire

I think that's one way to imagine the Pages,
although they have many other significations,
as being complementary elemental crossovers.

I am always a little saddened when I read books that say
this Page is a traitor of some sort (it comes from Etteilla).

I love this Page ~ and she is always a good sign for me.

Interesting...this concept of tarot genetics you have developed Fulgour. :)

As true to life, children sometimes strives so hard to be different from the parents, do we not?

I would like to see this laid out in a spread of diagram. It would prove very useful in a parent/child relationship reading.

The page of swords (RWS) speaks to me about being out in the cold...exposed...a stubborn youth determined to stand her ground no matter how hard the wind blows...and as you said..with no protective gear...because she is still too inmature to understand.

Because of the special Moon association that I see with Pages,
I feel they are close to The Queens, and to The High Priestess.

I also did this larger, and have it hung in a frame:
