Mercury Retro?

Ok, I just got this email saying that Mercury is going retro starting November 30 up to December 20.

This is beyond my comprehension, as most of you are aware, so would somebody, in plain English, tell me what this means and what effects one would entail during this period.

Plus, in my natal chart (thank you again Moongold!!!) Mercury was in Capricorn and retro at the time of my birth...will that have anymore affect on me because it's going to be retro at the end of the month?

This Astrology is confusing at the best of times.

Well, I don't know enough about predictive astrology/transits to tell you what it's placement means for you specifically.
But - Merc rx usually means the stuff that Merc rules - communications, travel, transportation, electronics, etc. - gets delayed or messed up in some way. Not a good time to buy a major appliance or take a trip. That's about all I know at this point.

But I seem to recall reading/hearing somewhere that for those with a Mercury retrograde in their natal chart, the effects are reversed. Meaning that if one's born with it in retro, then the retro is a "normal" state for them and things may go awry when the planet isn't in retrograde.

Hopfully one of the others will chime in soon to say whether this theory is on target or not.

when a planet is retrograde in your natal chart... you'll have to figure out your own way of doing things.. with mercury you probably had learning disabilities.. not due to unintelligence, but because the way other's learn didn't suit your needs..

mercury retrograde in general causes misunderstandings, electronics that break, plans that fall through....

save reciepts for any christmas presents you buy, they may not work if they are electronic, it may be the wrong sweater size..

For example, I had stationary retrograde mercury in my Pisces 5th house. Before I roll my eyes too much at that one (it has caused me enough trouble), I have to say that it is interesting to quite simply not be as others expect.

In my case you are dead on target. My early life was stunted due to a hearing deficit, it prevented me from talking until the age of 4. But I quickly learned sentances (I was probably talking in my head before then becoming very congnigent) and paragraphs. My social skills were not developed to the standard that the institution would have liked, but my intellegence skills actually jumped me ahead a grade.

Right now, things are going awry, and its that tense phase where Mercury is as far away from the sun as possible (I was born with retro mercury conjunct my sun) in the chart wheel. I was laid off from my job, denied unemployment insurance from the State, I helped my grandmother move her stuff to another town, and my friends father just died. Schedules and preplanned agendas are falling apart, but the advantage is that after a whole year of mercury retrogrades backtracking from an earth sign to a fire sign (Virgo to Leo was the last retrograde we had) we now have a retrograde that is soley in one element, this time the Fire of Sagitarius.

Also, the asteroid Phaethon is in a Gemini retorgrade, not only does it have a definition that mirrors mercury, its glyph is very similar to mercury. Phaethons emphasis is on travel and movement with vehicles, and to a lesser extent schedules. Phaethon retorgrade in Gemini, a mercury ruled sign, will add a bit of emphasis on the roads during this mercury retro. As the holiday season starts to get underway, people start to travel and shop more, and with Jupiter in Libra it is quite possible to go overboard and spend too much.

Mercury will pass over and backtrack to its conjunction with Pluto, and after redierct will pass over again. This three time conjunction will generate a great deal of commotion, perhaps something in the Middle East will be brought to light. News of death and destruction is commonplace now, and it is time that we come to terms with this new reality and its consequences. The proximity to Capricorn, and then the retreat, inidcates that government (ruled by capricorn) will be secretive about something, asteroid Sphinx (ruler of secrets) in Capricorn enhances this.

Mercury slowing down in teh sky is what affects me more than the direction, I was born with mercury at its quickest, and the day of the stationary (Nov 30) mercury won't be moving at all. The direct angle that makes mercury energy flow backwards does act as a reset on my brain and lets me consolodate and reconstitute the things I have recently learned.

As you can tell, mercury retrograde does not affect my ability to write.

Just thought i'd comment on the Mercury Retrograde before my internet connection dies. again.

This one has been kicking my ass. First, our internet connection has died here at home, twice in the last week followed by partial electrical failure, then my parent's computer finally fulfilled its wish to die. Then, my friend's computer came very close to doing so as well. After all of this, i'm still unable to get my computer fully un-hijacked.

It´s funny, everything electronic is absolutely crazy here especially phones. I´d never noticed the retrograde like I´m doing now and it´s weird.

Something funny going on here???
When someone phones the telephone will ring once and then hang up.
Then the person redials and the call comes through. Only the second time
and ONLY with a couple of people who call everyday.
Do you phone the telephone company or just wait and see?
I think the cord gets loose but I'm waiting to see if it starts doing
this with more callers.
Or is it MERCURY RETROGRADE???

The two people that it is doing it for is a Virgo (car phone)
& Gemini (home phone)
