New deck trimming
For those among us who like to trim the cards then re-shape the corners, my advice is don't. The printing of the new deck is not as precise as previous versions. If you try to trim the cards just to show the paintings, you will end up with several oddly shaped cards, ie. too large or too small. I must admit that I trimmed the smaller deck and I know tenths of millimeters can make a big difference. But honestly, I was very careful and it didn't turn out too good. That said, it did get rid of the brown border on the back of the cards. I will report back when I have trimmed a large set. __________________ "Blessed are the cheese makers?". I just got mine. Leaving aside that the UCH card is positively nasty - it looks just like all my other Muller decks, with some cards a bit faded. I am very disappointed. ![]() And the "full size" one is pretty much pocket sized - almost the same size as their pocket one. Nice boxes though And luckily I do read German.LeFanu - I know where you can still get those.... __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here. I like the full size and I like the box a lot. The best thing for me is the German..which I do not read...as I am generally unhappy with 'keywords' on my cards (except the major titles which are fine). __________________ "The police are not here to create disorder, they're here to preserve disorder" - Daley '68 |

I've been off tarot for the last 2 weeks so this morning I had the urge to do a reading so I pulled my mini Thoth Urania off the shelf. I'm not sure what it is about these cards that pulls me in - it could be the gold used on the backs - it might even be the way they feel and smell (they do smell really nice lol) and they shuffle like a dream. If someone bought one of these decks without seeing previous versions, they would be very pleased with them. I spent a good few hours comparing the artwork of both of these two new decks with my older version Thoths (I have all three sizes of the old Thoths) and although the printing is more faded and not so clear on the new versions, it's a beautiful deck - it does look more aged - maybe that was the feel they were going for when they reprinted this deck? I still won't hesitate to buy both of these decks again when they come out in English, infact I'm waiting.

ETA Emily - I e-mailed then and they said they have no plans.... __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here. As far as I know it is NOT the big size. But I think tarotchest does have some big ones - though they sell there very fast..... There is a thread here about the various editions where I THINK someone gave details..... ETA tarotchest has the deluxe and it is 140 x 95 mm. I am too tired to get out a ruler..... __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here. But this was the only universe which had a vacancy. ~ ~ (Granny from Hell) I is very deaf.
