A "treasure" for Tarot de Marseille students -- "SCHWEIZER SPIELKARTEN 2"

Hi:)
Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen (Switzerland) published
an exhibition catalogue named "Schweizer Spielkarten 2" last year.
Just read the review of this catalogue in the following PDF file.
http://i-p-c-s.org/journal/33-3.pdf ("Book Reviews" page)

Yes, it's a real treasure for all TdM students-- filled with pictures of
ALL THE TRUMPS & COURT CARDS, and a few pips also, of so many
old decks in FULL COLOURS!! (Some decks lack some cards, though.)

I've uploaded two sample pictures:
Jean Baptiste Madenie (1739)

(The model of CLAUDE BURDEL deck)

Joseph Chafard (1747)

(interestingly, QUITE SIMILAR to Dodal & Payen decks!)

[NOTE: "f", "u" & "k" for three asterisks]

How to Get:

Unfortunately, it seems this catalogue can be found neither at Amazon nor
at Abebooks:(
As written in the review I mentioned, probably the best possible way is
to get direct contact with Museum Allerheiligen.
(Or some Swiss AT member could help...??)

In my case, I obtained one through the agency of a person in Schaffhausen.
It cost US$50, including p & p.

yeah!!!!! hurray for Kenji! I'd been reading about the Madenié deck - I thought he was in Dijon, but no matter - but all the others! And so many Swiss decks ;)

I look forward to more discovery. It looks like a little trip to Shaffhouse - across the country for me, about 4 hours drive - in in order.

Anybody care to join me?

Astraea

Hi Kenji! So many wonderful decks, I would just love to see them all -- what a grand excursion it would make, to go visit those decks! Thank you for your very helpful tabulation and lovely scans.

Wow!

Another great Kenji discovery!

I've got to get ahold of this!!!!

Thanks Kenji1

Eberhard

The place Angers for Jean-Baptiste Madenié in "Schweizer Spielkarten 2" only appears in the subscript on plate 21. Perhaps it is a Typo. Thierry Depaulis in his essay in the same book only mentions Dijons.

roppo

Very good job, Kenji!!

Now we hope you'll update your blog with these findings!

Thanks for your replies, friends:)

To Helvetica & Eberhard,
Yes, the Madeniés are from Dijon.
"Angers" should be some mistake.

To Roppo:
Some day;)
You know, I hope this book will be of some help for me to solve our problem,
"What kind of deck did early Golden Dawn members use?"...
