Tarot Girl Jess, Your wand sounds beautiful! and just right for you ![]() I love the fact that you used wood from a tree that watched you grow! I've been thinking of the same thing, but it didn't quite gel thats what I was thinking till you said it! I grew up under a beautiful old TX oak tree and I sometimes like to stand very still in front of it so it can see how much I've grown. (hee hee) I haven't told anyone about my wands either, I'm don't really use them yet but they add strength to my petitions on the alter so there they live. Every once in a while I like to just hold them... My most practical tool is my boline, my little sickle knife. I use it for everything. So much so that the handle is falling apart from use. Anyway, post pics if your comfortable and have a way to, I'd love to see your wand in living pixel! Love and Light, Ankou __________________ Learning new questions by answering the old ones... |

Sadly you can't post pictures unless you are a forum subscriber. Love Sulis xx __________________ 'Be excellent to each other' - Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. You can post on a photo blog and give us the link... Most photo blogs are free, just do a net surf, and read the small type, I don't open random accounts that require email addresses cause I've got too much spam already... Don't have a wand, but I started a project to create a staff made out of Zizyphus mauritiana (or jujube) which is a dark yellow hardwood tree that happens to grow in the place of my birth. A staff crafter helped me acquire and work the wood just so, and he thoroughly enjoyed working with that wood. Right now I'm still in the process of selecting symbols and creating the carving design. Deciding how/where to place the quartz is my current problem. I'd like it to be at the head, but I don't want it to stick out much if at all. I may also imbed it by cutting off the very tip, drilling a hole, reattaching (and maybe drilling small holes in the side to allow the crystal to "see" out). I'm worried about introducing some kind of energetic disturbance by severing a piece, and I also dislike having to use glue. I am really very new to all of the spiritual practices I have been taking up including this one, and I'm doing this with no specific or conscious purpose in mind other than to respond to a call. So working out how the staff will actually fit into a daily practice, or other stuff, should be interesting. Last edited by Ffortiwn; 16-07-2005 at 05:10. |

Sorry to double-post, but does anyone here know of a good wand-making resource with detailed information about imbedding objects (such as crystals) in the wood, or removing and replacing sections? I've come across a few wand sites but none on the caliber of these Aeclectic forums, in wand-making terms. I want to approach this as correctly and skillfully as possible. I'm very, very reluctant to dettach/reattach and I'd like for the crystal to be as deeply imbedded as possible. Also curious if anyone knows of a good resource for some raw peridot.
