Echinachea tea is always recommended at the start of the flu, but that's just for the start only. Once you've got the whole flu there's not much you can do but start treating the symptoms then. Add lemon juice to any tea you pick, to help cut the phlem at the back of the throat. The heat of the tea helps open sinuses too. The only thing I found that opens sinuses better is a shot of ouzo heated in the microwave. I didn't even drink it, the fumes alone tore open all the nasal passages (it was brutal but it worked!!!) all on it's own. Ouzo tastes like licorice, so it's not a bottle that'll be used very fast. Someone recommended camomile tea for a cold, but I've never had any around to try it and see. Maybe it was just for helping the body to get more sleep? Green tea and gunpowder tea are supposed to have those antioxidants that are so benefitial. Don't know if they'll help with reducing illness, actually, or if they're more a preventative. __________________ You can give a cat a fish, and he'll eat for a day. ![]() A tea that I find helpful when I have a cold is Lemon tea with added Echinacea would be good too ... I can imagine that Peppermint tea would also be helpful ... I've only had it when I haven't had a cold .. but I think that it would help with cold and flu symptoms. I wouldn't call these teas remedies ... but they can help relieve the symptoms ... ![]() Hope that you are feeling better soon

cold season herb
There is the Cold Season Tea Sampler. I found it in the coffee and tea section in the grocery store. There are 4 different kinds of tea,Gypsy cold care, Echinacea plus, Throat coat and Breathe easy. It's in a light green box. Hope you feel better soon. BB Dakini __________________ When the ship of your spirit hits the reef of matter, it's the reef That's smashed to pieces. Richard Bach |

nip it in the bud
The best thing that I have experienced to get rid of a cold/flu....before it is in full swing, is silver (aka; white or broad leaf) sage. A couple of leaves steeped for 20 minutes in a cup of hot water... I know this to work best when the first, very subtle symptoms appear, such a a bit of head congestion, aches in head and neck, occasional sneezing, etc. __________________ LOVE is our SOUL purpose |

Wow, everyone is so helpful and nice on this forum! Thanks for all the get well regards. Nice to meet you all! ![]() So, I took your suggestions here and made my own concoction (brew). I took 1/4 tsp of sage and thyme placed it into a tea ball holder, and let the herbs steep into my regular tea of green tea and ginseng. I can safely say I am 100% better! What a difference, I don't think I would have made it out of bed the past few days without this tea mixture. On another note, yeah BB those Cold Season Tea Sampler are great, problem is no one near me sells them any more . The allergy one is great too! Thank again everyone and again merry meet! __________________ We must combine the toughness of the serpent with the softness of the dove, a tough mind with a tender heart. -MLK Jr. |
