Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards by Svetlana Alexandrovna Touchkoff
Is anyone interested in studying this deck? I have had it on the shelf for ages and actually forgot it was there. Picked it up yesterday and realise that a lot of study is needed to get to grips with the images - or a good memory, maybe. I have found that maybe just remembering the key 'meanings' for each direction is enough, along with the meaning of the symbol, and then expanding without the book. I do not have any Russian in my family, but I do have connections with gypsies, far far back, I think. So this would be a nice deck to learn and an art I would like to perfect. Anyone interested in delving deaper??? LB |

Hi Lb, I also aquired these cards a long time ago and they have resided on a shelf since. I would be very interested in delving into these cards. A lot of study will be needed because of the different ways of interpreting them. They are so unusual and for a while I was actually fearfulof them for some reason, even though I am an experienced reader, the time has now come to get to grips with these wonderful cards. Lead on LB. Doreen. |

Oh Doreen, I am really excited. Mine also sat on a shelf for ages. I don't remember even pulling them out when I got them, originally, in a trade. They just looked too complicated and I probably couldn't be bothered to get involved with another system at the time. But now, it is nice to learn something new. Something where I don't already have years of knowledge. It is a clean slate. And they look so lovely when they are laid out. On my table, they feel so mysterious and I love the way that in a spread, amongst jumbled half images, there are full ones that stand out and wait for interpretation. So, shall we post like we do in other study groups. Start with single images and talk about North, South, East and West interpretations. The book gives ideas about interpretation, but I feel we could move further than it goes. Later on, we could talk about whether images work together. What I was wondering is if the arrows (when they point in the direction of another card) actually influence the other image they point out. But we can discuss those things later ... I shall start a thread about an image, taken randomly. And will continue to, as I work with the cards. Feel free to do the same. I am looking forward to this. Thanks. LB |

let's study!
WOW! i got this deck a couple of years ago or so. i used it formy personal readings and it was 'scary' accurate!! i really wanted to study it but had to travel overseas for a while, and i forgot to take it with me. Let's get started studying please! i find it very accurate and not that complicated. i think is like some have said, it requires a good memory or just a simple method we can come up with to get the basic meaning of each card and do readings. can we start this study group ? thank yaraluna __________________ *Un diccionario es un sepulcro / O es un panal de miel cerrado? ~Pablo Neruda *A veces uno es manantial entre rocas / y otras veces un árbol con las últimas hojas ~Mario Benedetti ======================================== *IDS - Marseilles (Jodo-Camoin) with backup deck* |

Hi Yaraluna I am glad you are enjoying the deck. I really like it, also. I was quite up for studying it a few weeks ago, but for now, I am taking things a little easy. Have been unwell this week and trying not to commit to much. But I know there are others here that might want to study with you. Feel free to take over where I left off. I would still be interested in your findings and will contribute when I can. Best, LB |

Just noticed how alike our avatars are Yaraluna!!! Is that one of the ones that comes from the site? Mine is the 'As de Deniers' from the Hadar Marseille. They do compliment each other, and funnily enough, in the thread, they remind me of the square russian cards. LB |

I used to have that deck... sent it on to another dear AT member, maybe we can lure her in here Never regretted sending it on, but sometimes I miss it.To me it is kind of like a Lenormand-style deck (symbol-wise), with 4 different meanings per symbol. I think the way they are laid out and how you are going to look for halves that fit together is a nice part of the reading process - I always liked that. Maybe I'll have to go find the deck again... -_-_-_- LB, I also have gypsies connections far far back in my family... oh, and I hope my hot chocolate rose avatar does not disrupt your sequence

... and here comes one of those Lotus avatars, sorry folks. ![]() I just stumbled across this thread in the new posts list. I have those cards too - had them for ages along with some other stuff, but when I felt I was in dire need of a reading, I often used that deck because I could always read everything up in the book and then piece it together (wasn't seriously into reading back then). I would always consult them whenever I was about to move, and they always lifted my spirits greatly (I remember the Lily in position 3 once) AND they were right on each time. Plus, as has been mentioned before, the pictures are very beautiful and to an old jigsaw maniac like me, finding matches is the best part of the reading! ![]() Well, I pride myself on my excellent memory (when it comes to that sort of things! ) and I know the approximate meaning of the symbols that I've had in readings, that's probably not even half of them though. But I've never thought about how to get into the thing other than by studying the book... So, if you're on to doing some studies, I'm with you, albeit in a somewhat limited timeframe. Hmmmm... maybe we could start with some personal experiences with the cards? Like, how did a certain symbol (or several playing together) turn out in your life? I find things easier to memorize when I have a bit of a background story to go with it.Let's see what we can find! ![]() Anna~ |
