Then there you were standing beside me.
There you were, and I clearly could see,
There was never more light in the eyes of an angel
Than I saw all around you and me.

The buffalo theory explained

One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm. Here's how it went:

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

That's what I thought too... but not according to this book! I really can't get my head around the earth revolving 366 times every 365 days... that makes no sense to me, and it has to be wrong... if it isn't wrong, it just gives me a headache!

The Uncharted Gardens

By Donna Lee Imagines.

A butterfly emerges from a chrysalis state
she's been in her cocoon nurturing learning and healing.
The Butterfly is a little bit frightened to leave the safety of her shell
But knows if she leaves it behind she will fly
, with the freedom she has only dreamt of.
So she gathers her strength and new found wisdom,
unfolds her wings and begins to fly.
She knows with each following day
her strength will become courage and confidence.
With each flap of her wings,
she will be able to move into
The Uncharted Gardens.
With the delight of every un-smelled flower,
she gains the knowledge that,
She is Safe to be True to Herself.
A Beautiful Butterfly.

True Story

This is a futile attempt to win.
This is my only post, and alas, perhaps you need more than one fascinating post to win, but here goes.

True Story

Many years ago my dad and his brothers and his one brother in law were sitting around talking about the existence of UFO's. Did they exist? What was really in Area 51? Was Roswell real?

Uncle Richie was always quiet. So it didn't surprise my Dad and his brothers that he sat listening quietly to the conversation. Uncle Richie was a professional jockey, and well, he raced sulky or harness racing. He was good, but had to quit due to an injury sustained during a race.

So there he was, in the midst of a bunch of Polish UFO enthusiasts and they were all wondering about the reality of UFO's, and finally they were all talking about personal sightings, none of which were very exciting.

Story goes that Uncle Richie took a swig of his beer and said,
"I saw something once."

Well the room went quiet fast.

And he let them sit there for a good long time in silence before he took another swig of his beer and started talking again.

This is the story Uncle Richie told that night, and never spoke of again. And that was how he started off. He told his brother-in-laws "I'll only be telling this once." And they all knew he meant it.

Richard C. was driving home very late at night from a horse farm where he had been looking at some racers. The road he was driving was deserted back then. Today it is home to several new housing developments, but that night it was still nothing but rolling hayfields and cow pasture.

Richie said he saw something up ahead, in the middle of the field, so he slowed some to see if someone was in trouble, had driven off the road. But then his eyes took in the scene and he laid on the gas pedal and drove past as fast as his pickup would go.

He says he saw a "silver man" standing just off the road and hovering next to the man was a triangular box that was floating a few feet off the ground. The silver man had on a belt, a big wide belt, both the man and the trianglular floaty thing were glowing. I just remembered this. He said the man had no real face to speak of. A slit for a mouth and two dark places for eyes...

And further into the field was something else, something big, and it was more like a place of shadow, a place that swallowed up the darkness and became something out of a myth or a horror story because the darkness in that spot wasn't quite...right.

Uncle Richie drove home at breakneck speed, and he called the sheriff. At first light, Uncle Richie returned to the place where he had seen the Silver Man, and the floating glowing Triangle and the weird dark spot, and there wasn't a shred of evidence to be found. Not a blade of grass bent or a singed spot or anything.

The sheriff suggested then that Richie never speak of the incident again. He assured him that he the Sheriff believed him, but he wouldn't be filing a report, and he figured that Richie would be the laughing stock of the town if he started telling folks about some Silver man with a big wide belt.

And so he never did speak of it again until the night he told my Dad and uncles about it years later.
