for a refresher, i've recently started to use my tarot deck as oracles.
when i read oracles, i tend to ask more "current" questions and expect shorter, less detailed answers. i also read them purely based on theme of the deck and imagery.
the minute i use a tarot deck as an oracles, there is an immense feeling of freedom!! no old meanings apply, there is no sequence. no majors and no pips. all just part of a 78 (individual, unconnected) oracle cards.
the inhibition of mixed decks goes too because all my decks may just as well be one large oracle deck! they are not images that connect to other cards of thr same deck in any "set" kind of way.
i've found it very refreshing, great for breaking those "blocks" that seem to form after awhile of only "deep" tarot reading...and i'm starting to connect better with all my decks.

I like that idea, mahimaisme. Many times I feel that choosing which deck is as important as choosing which cards, so in a way that's part of the reading.

I have done lots and lots of strange experiments over the years...many..like the double blind, the readings for inanimate objects, and the card first, querant later...were all various degrees of successful.

I tried something similar to Sunchariot...in that instead of throwing themmup in the air...I made magnets and then threw them at the fridge...reading only those that stick!

Some other things I have tried...

Doing "Reverse Readings"...shuffling them upright...and then turning them over to the backside to do the reading! (then checking afterwards to see if I was close!)

Reading a completely blank deck. That was cool. And surprisingly accurate too.

Reading with decks that don't exist...making up goofy theme decks ahead of time, and creating crazy cards...and then doing the reading by picking one at random!

Lets see...I have also read with everything and anything...including toothpicks, dirt, chicken bones from dinner, clouds, icecubes, bath water, popcorn, instant coffee granules, non dairy creamer, etc etc... and some were definitely more fun than others!
Also...some were more accurate then others...almost always depended on the degree of seriousness of the client. Those taking things TOO seriously were often sadly disappointed!

well, we just got a study group started for experiments and reading in different ways and making intuitive spreads and... well, just experimenting maybe you'll find something of interest there
tho, the group's very new so maybe you can add more than you can take

Do you shuffle them all together?

Sadly I still need tarot. But I'm getting better at my prime numbers.
