I never quite liked this card to be honest, which is strange because The Fool itself is a strong card for me. But having read your posts, I think that the mirror is a self-reflection point, but she isn't looking at it. She isn't even hinting at looking. I think that this is about the leap of faith, don't keep looking over yourself, just look away from the mirror and do. To me this card neglects the naivety factor of the Fool. The character doesn't resonate as naive, she reads the cards and gains knowledge thus. I would be interested to hear others opinions on this. An interesting card to say the least. |

One of the reasons I really like this deck (beyond the awesome fact that it is multicultural) is that this deck departs or expands upon the Rider-Waite-Smith images, offering innovation of the Tarot in its images. This quality of the deck is very evident in The Fool. One thing I have considered when looking at the Fool in this deck is whether we are seeing a first person perspective of the Fool looking at this scene, as if we are seeing through The Fool’s eyes. That perhaps us as the users of this deck are being The Fool when looking at this card and seeking this deck for wisdom and insight. That in the scene, the very act of being the querent seeking a Tarot reader for answers to life’s complexity is an act in which we take on the adventurous exploring archetype of the Fool in our selves. I also consider the Tarot reader in this card to take on the role of The Fool too. There just seems to be a willingness to her to take chances, to accept the fact she will make mistakes on the way—and that is okay with her, to explore the unknown territories of the Divine by being the reader of the cards. Also, I love how her pink sweater suggests she is both welcoming and warm to those who seek her counsel. (However, these thoughts about her are rather projective on my part.) :-) Forrest __________________ No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted. - Aesop |

This is a nice card... seems to have a lot more going then you would think on first sight... I havent got the deck... hope to have it soon.. but from what I gather from the image I see on internet..it looks as if the artist meant to say that the puppits: We are alle puppits of our divine selves but we do not know it... She does not face the Mirror: Meaning she does not face her true selve... but looks into creation (the tarot cards)... She draws the the Fool card, and turns it away from her... her other hand: Anyone, do you know what that means? Interesting nice card. |

I don't have a lot to add to the comments on this card, but when I once had the book, I remember Julia saying that the Fool depicted in this card is her. I don't remember what else she said about it, though. I don't have the book this time around, so I'm going to be winging it. I think she said it was her when she first started her Tarot journey. __________________ Check out the A. Nonny Mouse Thread! I love the ideas tossed around about this card. for me it wasnt a card that stuck out..I actually felt it didnt fit with the rest of the deck..And am still unsure about it.. But i do like some of the ideas about it.. so i am going to put my two pence in.. ************* The fool card is a reader , reading for me..The mirror is facing me , prompting me to take a look at myself. Am i a puppet of others, ideas? Do i follow along with the crowd? Or do i see myself as an idividual with my own ideas and beliefs. Promting me to take that leap of faith and daring me to be, truly me.. create my own reality, Taking the wisdom of the owls carved in the chair and decide no longer to be a puppet or have strings attached , allowing myself to be and do, with out fear. Having faith all will be well. http://www.mastarot.com/images/a00Fool.jpg __________________ Have I not here the best cards for the game. William Shakespeare King John |

The companion book was written by Tracey Hoover & the diviner is a portrait of Tracey. In the introduction, it says that Julie did commission work that placed the client in a mythic background & that several of Julie's friends are featured in the deck. |
