my natal chart confusion...

is there anyway to find out your real birthdate? my father told me i was born between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m, ukraine odessa august, 9,83. he said it was most likely in between. so what i do when i looked at the astrochart online i would just put 7:30. what i don't understand is some of the planets and associations. for example capricorn as my ascendant. i don't feel i am anywhere close to a capricorn!! i mean no offense to anyone here, but it just doesn't resonate with this ascendant at all. i think this is a very very strong sign , they hold themselve very well through life and generally will successed easily. they are very serious, which i am not, i'm a kid at heart type gal who is very eccentric , more aquarian like. most of everything that is said about this sign is something that is the opposite of me. for example i read that they easily identify with the material world and know how it works. they are conventional, and concerned with their image in the society. they adapt to social conduct and go with the rules. i am the oppositive of all these things!!! i am a weirdo, very unconventional. i dont like to confrom to society at all, unless its laws i have to obey.

the only thing that i read about this ascendent is that they had difficult childhood and mature later in life, especially if they have saturn in libra, which i have also. and i am very immature for my age and have had a difficult childhood in where my parents made me take on more responsibility for my age then most kids. but still,everything else doesn't make sense.

anyway, how can i know for sure? i heard there are some very experienced astrologers out there that can tell you excatly just by looking at your chart. i reallly want to know so bad!!


btw, i hope i didn't offend anybody about the ascendent its not that i don't want to be those thigns its just that it isn't me!! i find it a bit embarssing to even say i'm eccentric and like an alien, lol.

GB - have you been over to astro.com ...... they have a basic section on learning astrology and what each planet means, including the houses too. I'm only a beginner with this stuff, but have found that that has helped me a lot!

Ascendant I believe is also how you can come across to others, what you *present* and not necessarily how you feel inside ....... Capricorn from what I've seen of people I know can be determined, stubborn, tenacious, hard-working ...... and certainly don't quit when it comes to something they believe in strongly, whether that belief is conventional or otherwise.

what degree of capricorn was the chart with the 7.30 time - if its an earlish degree or very late degree you could be right that its not right

why not try out 7 oclock and 8 oclock charts and see what ascendant comes up and see if that fits more

Your approach is basically right - choose a time between the earliest and latest that your father has given you. There are real probems with this approach though. Firstly what time to take - the mid way point is a fair start, but clearly it could also be a little earlier of a little later. The Ascendant can change signs - indeed there's a roughly 50% chance that it will during a period of an hour (some signs rise faster than others). It's also possible (though much less likely) that the Moon or even the other planets will change sign.

The Ascendant is often seen as how we project ourselves to the world, not how we feel inside. In your case Saturn does rule the Ascendant but it is also in exaltation in Libra - this would normally be a much freer, firmer Saturn that is more sure of itself. Saturn also makes favourable aspects to both Sun and Moon (the Sun in it's own sign of Leo). However it does have a conjunction with Pluto and this would certainly shake it up a bit to put it mildly. There's also a sextile to Neptune in the twelfth. You have no ordinary Saturn here - you may well be strongly drawn to explosive or (literaly) fantastic ideas, certainly as seen by others. Your Saturn does not suggest a desire for mundane responsibility - much more the opposite. The desire to exercise control does not mean that this control has to be conventional at all.

Saturn ruled people do tend to 'mature' later - usually around the Saturn return - in your late twenties or early thirties.

It was late when I posted my reply and therefore did so quickly. I forgot to point out that you actually have the sign of Aquarius (incidentally also ruled by Saturn) intercepted in your first house - The first house is concerned with you and how you are perceived - you have a strong streak of Aquarius there.

Using Dorian Gieseler Greenbaum's temperament classification you come out as Melancholic/Choleric - your'e not as pessimistic or organised as the Melcholic Capricorn suggests but probably more reflective than impulsive and a little more achievement oriented (that is achievement of your own goals, not nescessarily socially acceptable achievement).

This is by no means a 'full' analysis but enough to suggest that the superficial ascendant reading is not a particulary good descriptor of yourself.

From what i've read the ascendant is a proto-personality that we form at an early age and regress to in times of stress.
For example a pisces ascendant tends to go quiet in uncertain situations and a leo ascendant would tend to become more forthright.
i've witnessed many a gentle aquarian with leo ascendant tell some lout to shut up, and when i mentioned it they told me to shut up : )
i would expect a capricorn ascendant to fall back on the rules a bit.
