i've googled this spread and also read some threads on the AT about it - why are the position meanings so different?

one example

card 4 in some places say its obstacles

and someone else says its the conscious goal/ambition

card 6 is advice and the other statement is its your hopes and fears
?

THE FLYING BIRD

This layout is
designed in the
shape of a bird taking
flight. The cards chosen and
placed in the left wing symbolize
and indicate to us something about our
feminine, receptive energies in the moment,
while the right wing symbolizes our male, active
energies. The first card picked is the initiator of the
flight, hence stems from the masculine side. Each
succeeding card responds to the previous one and
lifts the 'bird' higher, allowing the questioner to
move into greater clarity and inner spaciousness.

1 Here & now the 'lift-off card
2 The resistance card - 'fear of flying'
3 Response-ability to the fear
4 Inner support (intuition) of responsibility
5 External support (intelligent action responding to the intuition)
6 Relaxation and acceptance
7 Arrival at a new level of awareness

Its no different to the many variations of the CC. Just go with what you're comfortable with. Taroists are not generally followers of tradition so they make changes based on what suits the way they read. I imagine this is why position meanings are different wherever you go.

Hell, even card meanings differ from deck to deck and book to book and person to person.
