This thread is about another deck and I am talking a little about Thunderbirds, Kokopelli and Heyokah!

Anyone still using the Sacred Path cards?

I trimmed my Sacred Path cards radically, like I did my Medicine Cards. The SP came out about a mm wider and about 2 mm shorter than the MC

I'm very pleased with the way they came out. Trimmed, I think the sets look nice together.

I've ordered the workbook from Amazon.

A medication change kept me awake all night and I needed to do something at 3:00 in the morning. So I trimmed the SP, despite my supposed to be doing an IDS with the Zerner-Farber. It's an oracle, not a tarot, so...well too bad :-) I really connected with this deck by trimming it. I've been reading the book and really like it. Jamie Sams is an incredible person and writer. Great middle of the night and Sunday afternoon reading.

Somebody talk to me about Sacred Path cards even though you know I'm a cheat.

Okay you all. I'm not sure if you all are doing tough love trying to help me stay on track with my IDS, by not responding to this thread, or if no one has anything to say.

There are so many newer, prettier oracles out and this one is expensive compared to many of those newer decks. But this one is a classic not to be missed. Seriously. The 44 cards really produce a solid, strong, balanced oracle, ESPECIALLY when added to the MC cards.

I bought Tree Magick last week from a used bookseller. I'd been waiting for an opportunity to get this at an affordable price with cheap or no shipping, for awhile. I used it a couple times and it has potential, but it didn't have the solidity and depth and teaching moments that Sacred Paths does, right out of the box. It is sitting, pretty much discarded on the bookcase already.

I'm more impressed with Sacred Paths the more I use it. Instead of obsessively waiting for my new deck to come in "Shining Tribe", I'm just really soaking this one in. It really has a LOT to say.

Thumbs up

I don't have it, but it has been on my wishlist a little while now. (Someone else read for me with it once.) It's good to hear further good opinions about it.

They look very nice trimmed, too.

The workbook came in. It looks REALLY good. The spreads in the companion book are excellent and the workbook has even more.

I think it's really strange this is not a more popular deck :-0 I really, truly don't get it :-0

I think the way cards FEEL when shuffling is very important to a lot of people, even if they don't know it. I think the long cards might turn people off. And I guess the artwork isn't so attention grabbing.

But the oracle is so solid, that I would think people would have gotten past that and have been using it more. The more I use it the more I get confused by it's lack of popularity. I guess the writing is not that important to a lot of people, compared to the artwork.

After a long time, I bought The Sacred Path Cards again. I've been needing something that inspried reflection, and I have always found this deck to be accurate and really helpful. It makes you think, makes you learn and definitely goes beyond the whole fortune-telling thing. It helps you to grow and live your life more consciously, if you listen to it's messages.

The copy I had got destroyed together with the copy I had of The Medicine Cards, when I forgot them at dad's. Someone let my decks get very wet and they were unusable after that (cards began to fall apart!).

I'm thinking about getting The Medicine Cards again, as soon as I have cash, so I can use both decks together. Unfortunately both sets in Brazil are very expensive.

But I am once again enjoy the Sacred Path insightful messages... I love that you learn a lot about the culture behind what is in the card, before knowing what the card itself means. I feel like I'm being guided, but also learning and becoming less ignorant regarding a culture that is apparently so distant from mine.

I want to know if anyone is still using this deck, maybe we could exchange ideas

I think it is the sort of the deck that is MEANT to be used with the book... the book IS the oracle... so the cards don't need a more "intuitive" or "inspired art". Frankly, I think the art suits the deck so well... it's simplicity. I'd find it a huge turn off if such a great book came with Doreen Virtue-looking cards, with beautiful model-like native americans that came straigth out of Pocahontas. There's something primitive about the art of this deck that really connect the image to the message in the book.

Unfortunately, most of people discard very quickly any deck that does not have a "traditional" beauty. Which is a shame and usually denotes a certain laziness to go beyond the art that is far too common for my tastes.
