Black toucan and black owl dream??

Hi guys-

ive never posted in this section of the forum and was wondering if maybe someone could help me interpret this dream I had last night?
I really felt like it meant something, and below my description Ive put my two cents in however I am really really confused as to what it means.

I was in a bedroom, it was dimly lit, I remember it was yellow soft lighting, like the type you put in kids bedrooms, but it was a nice white/beige bedroom, with soft linens and the big bed I was laying down in under the covers was facing a window (more like my feet were right against the window, if you know what i mean). The window was clear so I could see it was night time. There were white curtains on each side of it. On the top right of this bedroom corner, was a BLACK toucan, it was swinging on a perch. I remember trying to figure out what kind of bird it was and instantly thinking, Oh its a black Toucan?. I stared at it and it was swinging gently and I said Hello to it, and it replied Hello back. I was austonded that it could speak and he mused at me "of course I can talk". I then looked at it thinking "I wonder what it does?". The toucan without me saying anything said solemnly "Im a hermit", and I said "Oh, I am sort of the same way". he said "Yes its somewhat of a lonely life", and I said "yeah I know what you mean".

The Toucan then became an own and sat on my chest. It glared at me and I got really frightened because I thought it wanted to peck at my eyes, so I dared not to make eye contact at it. Then after a minute, the owl said "move over" and I was confused. My right arm was spread out and the own then wanted to lay into the bed on my arm with me (like cuddle sort of?). I remember saying..oh...and then the own came and layed on my right arm in the bed with me. I remmeber thinking, oH i shouldnt have been scared, he just wanted to lie down with me.


I havent the faintest idea what it means. I remember waking up and feeling kind of sad and lonely and depressed, but later in the day I thought it was amusing. The only thing I can think of is that when it said "im a hermit" I remember that Ive been very introspective the last 2 months. I barely have gone out, but not in an unhealthy way, I just prefer my home and being alone right now (ive had a number of emotional situations that have lead me to be this way the last 6 months), and I dont know whether the bird was trying to tell me dont be afraid, life isnt painfull, sometimes people just want to be close to you.

I dont know. Anyone can help me out?

without being very well-versed in dream symbolism myself, when I read your post I felt compelled to ask you if you are single. If you are, could this dream mean that someone will soon come into your life? And perhaps if this happens, you may at first feel scared, which is normal if you're still feeling sort of heart-broken. But perhaps you need to let go of your fear.

According to internet resources I looked at, owls can be messengers or omens, so I wonder if there is a message you need to get. I wonder if the toucan is your animal guide. Sounds like an interesting dream!

I am in fact single.
Ive been looking for someone for a while now because the last two months Ive decided Im more ready and a little more prepared to meet someone.
There was someone coming in and out of my life but Im quite sure he is now out of the picture.
I was wondering this also? Could a toucan be my animal guide/or the owl perhaps?
I felt it was a very curious dream.
If it does indeed mean Ill meet someone, Im quite happy about that.

I thought it was starnge how the animal spoke to me about being a hermit.
I immideinetly referrred back to my tarot cards about the hermit. I get that but Ive never considered it to be my significator card.

Anyone else have an idea about this dream?

Hi! I am not familiar with toucan's or animal guides. Hopefully someone can help you with that aspect of the dream. I see the hermit and the owl as wise, insightful and solitary. Also, when typing up your dream you kept spelling owl as own. I am not criticizing your typing or grammer... but I sort of interpreted it as a type of "freudian slip". Does that make sense?

I think that this dream is all about you being comfortable being on your own. I think that you are both birds. The toucan is recognizing that you have been a hermit - self imposed and necessary to your development. That he turns into an owl is significant of you confronting yourself and being transformed. That the owl then "cuddles" with you is the progress you have made in discovering again who you are and being comfortable within your own skin. That your feet are pressed up against the window suggests to me that you are indeed almost ready to go out in the world again. However, it is night time so you do seem to be waiting for something.

Maybe, the importance of this dream is for you to acknowledge the personal growth that you have accomplished.

I didnt realize till you mentioned, but your right! I did spell owl as "own" when I was typing out my dream?
Weird!

I seem to be doing that a lot though on the other hand lately. I type really quickly so I notice I spell words twice, or I mix them up with other words when I do my readings exchange. Maybe thats something I should pay attention to though.

That was also a really good interpretation of my dream.
Me waiting for something is probablly me waiting for a good relationship to come into my life.
I have everything settled as far as work, career, money, friendships and socially. Thats the only thing I would liek to have everything complete (like the 10 pillars of life).
I am however very content being on my own, which I havent ever been, this is finally a time that I can be on my own two feet and be happy.
Perhaps I should embrace it more, maybe give myself more credit.
