Zebra Stone

Hi everyone

I came across a beautiful piece of Zebra Stone in a store. Zebra Stone is striped and it has only been found in one area in Western Australia - that was until they flooded it for mining purposes ... but apparently the stone I have has come from someones personal collection. It is rare, but Oh so beautiful!!

I was wondering if there is any information that others have regarding this stone ...

No I havent done a search myself yet, but just thought I'd put the feelers out here first

Blessings Elven x

HAh yes I too love zebra stone - I have beent to the ord river district and meditated close to Lake Argyle to connect to it - amazing...
some info from

http://www.amonline.net.au/geoscienc...tary.htm#zebra

Zebra rock

Zebra rock (19 cm x 16 cm) cut slice. Kununurra, Western Australia. Photo: S Humphreys © Australian Museum. Zebra rock or Zebra stone is a distinctive reddish-brown and white banded claystone from the Ord River area of Western Australia where it forms discontinuous lenses within a Late Proterozoic shale sequence. Most occurrences are now submerged beneath the dam waters of Lake Argyle. Since its discovery in 1924, it has been used widely as an ornamental stone. It is composed of small particles of quartz, white mica, clay minerals, hematite and alunite. The striking colour banding was probably formed after the original sediments were deposited by the rhythmic precipitation of hematite-rich bands during alteration of the rock in a highly oxidising environment.

PERSONALLY - I feel Zebra Rock encourages amicable group dynamics, compassion and cheerfulness. Increases a sense of adventure, free time, fun and that gorgous OUTDOOR energy. It also have a wonderfully unique perspecitve that it emparts - you get the real feeling of timelessness with this stone.. it is also I feel much like a shiva lingham with an australian/aboriginal energy.

I have it resonating with Scorpio 1 A sightseeing bus - Dr Jones Key Word - Friendliness, cause it has univeral appeal... 'everyone' is enchanted by it..

Yep I have some too

Marina! thankyou so much! *hugs*
Sorry it took me a while to get back here.

That really is a Sabian Symbol indeed!! That is also Lynda Hills symbol for her first trip to Iran, Iraq and the Middle-East! (I m pretty sure of this)

So I wonder also why I have been so drawn to this rock. ive been thinking about this ... mainly because I remember the first piece of meteorite I came across, and how that had 'profound' effects on me ... especially relating to mental health - I was out in the stratospheres alright!! LOL!!

Back to the Zebra Stone ...
When I found it, it was in days of getting my Australian Animal Dreaming Deck - I feel a connection here.
I have begun a strange new exploration of story telling and making new connections.
When I look at the stone slab I have - a smaller one thats in the picture of course ... I see many layers of stories being told. It is an incredible looking rock!! I see it like a talking stick - but a 'talking stone' ... layer on layer telling the creation story ... Looking at the layers and how they are formed fascinates me no end - especially where I see a line of brown completely cut over an row od spripes, and I wonder if the earth surface moved or a ranging flood dumped another layer over the top. I wonder if the the earth changes polarities ... I wonder wonder wonder when I hold this stone ...
I also think of the Dreamtime and of Gondwannaland (which has come up lately in my thoughts and searches). Maybe it is best that it has been covered over for the time being - I dont know, but it certainly is something extraordinary!!! Im having alot of fun with expressive writings and readings with the Animal dreaming deck and the stone.

Thankyou for the link marina!! Im so glad it is included in your book!!
So appropriate!!

Many Blessings

it is an amazing stone - it is so ancient and it holds like you say so many stories, yet it is not a gem it is a rock.. it holds much more detial that a gem thats for sure.. it is timeless and it helps us gain universal perspecitve
and it is connected to Gondwanna

I was deeply moved by it - and continue to be.. it holds much more information that I will ever imagine !

OMG!! I cant walk past the new rock shop without buying something

I found another piece of zebra rock - they had just the one bit - small and rectangular made into a pendant drop ... I grabbed it!! I could hardly believe they had some!

then I saw this other rock ... OMG!! It is soooo wonderful ... and i cant think of the name of it But I laybyed it ...
Its actually petrified wood ... brown and creme in colour - beautiful when polished it has these big spots all over it ... they are where the borers went through and ate the wood, then the stump or branch has not been eaten away completely, but the holes have been filled with sediment and then it has petrified over the years ... like wood and stone together ...

I also bought some Stromatalite (wood/stone found in Western Australia only)
... also a clear cystal point which has what looks to be iron in it - its a bit orange in places - and has some black flecks ... very pretty.
Some Tiger iron - for a necklace piece ... some strawberry quartz - for the colour (probably dyed), ... and some Leopard agate.

I will be eating Rice Bubbles for the next 2 weeks at this rate

Blessings Elven x

Hi peace_pixie and wizzle

I think this new rock is called 'cheesewood' rock .. or something like that ... its a chunk!
They have a petrified tree stump in the window on display ... bwaha - you'd need a rather large tarot box for that one

I have made the pendant out of the zebra stone ... looks pretty cool, though my wire work needs some practise, but I can wear it now.

The Tiger Iron is coming along nicely - I am wrapping it in also ...

Thanks for your replies - we do have some very special stones!
Argyle diamonds ....yummmmmm

Oh Marina! Your a sweetheart!! Thankyou for putting your Sabian Crystal knowledge to work for me - they SOOOOO relate to what I am trying to aspire to right now, and the declarations that go with them I am going to use! Especially when I am designing the stones into jewellry! Thats awesome of you to do that for me - THANKYOU!!! *hugs*
Everytime I go to the crystal shop, I think of you ... maybe you were helping me out through the 'crystal network'

I have done some design work on the Tiger Iron as its becoming a necklace pendant ... though Im not too sure ... seems a fussy piece ... doesnt like gold wire much ... or too much fuss and bling
Its only a small square polished piece, but I wouldnt go swimming with it on - I cant believe the weight it has for something the size of .. hmm .. say 3x2 rows of keys on the computer keyboard ... Im designing now, around its shape - leaving the face of it basically unadorned - less is more I think with this piece

Blessings Marina
