Introduction to Lenormand Cards and Lenormand Card reading
As the Lenormand cards with their easy to understand symbols were developed after the death of the famous french Card reader Marie Anne Adelaide Lenormand (1772 – 1843) their symbols were created without her input, although she published two books during her lifetime they did not mention anything about the cards she used. But one visitor of hers, Karl August Freiherr von Malchus, mentioned his meetings in the years 1810 – 1814 with Mlle Lenormand in his letters. As a finacial reformer between ancien regime and the modern world he was travelling europe to collect knowledge about business administration. In his letters he was not only deeply impressed by the accuracy of the forecast made by Marie Anne but also by the fact that she used regular playing cards, some of them with handwritten remarks and astrological symbols on them. And this is the common factor between her and our decks: Most of the Lenormand cards show the value of the underlaying playing card as well as the addtl. symbol used for fortune telling. This is one of the pleasures of dealing with Lenormand cards. Once you have mastered their meanings you can use any card playing deck from 6 to Ace in order to practice card reading. In this thread I am going to introduce the 36 Lenormand cards with a brief explanation of their meaning, their general Meaning if drawn as a single daily card and a link to the picture of each card described. Once I have finished all 36 cards you will be able to draw your daily card with any deck of cards (take out 2 – 5) and have fun with your daily card or combining three cards for a daily draw and learn about the meaning of the cards in combination.
