Hello, I was doing a reading yesterday on my laptop. I had nearly finished typing it up and had noticed that I forgot to add a comma . I touched the mouse pad to move my curser and BAM my whole reading dissappeared! I'm not very computer savy but it seemed as if it moved back to the previous page. This has happened before to me lately and it is so frustrating spending time trying to type and losing it.Why????What am I doing wrong to prevent this. |

I'm not sure what's going wrong either but I've had long and involved posts disappear in the past too so now when I post really long posts on here, I tend to type them out first into Office or wordpad and paste them here. That way if my post disappears off into the ether all I have to do it to go back to the original document and paste it again. It also means you have a complete copy saved of any readings you do.

Yes. Somehow our machines think that we're wanting to move back or forward a page. I've had that too. It's frustrating as hell and I haven't got a clue what causes it. I've got another laptop that treats every time you move the mouse over an icon, it DOES whatever that icon is--no clicking. The damn thing is in the case on the shelf staring at me right now, evil glare. So Lilith, the short answer is: I don't know why, you're not doing anything wrong, our machines are haunted. |

With readings now, I usually do them in Word first, though posts I also just compose them in the Forum Reply box. Sometimes (and likely stating the obvious here) you can just go back or forward a browser page and find them. Not always of course, sniff. |

Thanks guys, I'll try what you said when typing it up.Lol It's at least reassuring that I'm not the only one. i wonder if all those readings we typed up and disappeared are floating somewhere in cyberspace. Weird huh? |

I can remember one particular time when I tried to post to a thread - it was one of those times where it was a long post straight from the heart kind of thing, took me ages to type it - I hit preview, it was good - I hit post and it was gone - puff straight into the ether. It was almost funny, almost.

You can set your mouse settings to refuse to "activate" icons when you hover over them.... It's in mouse settings somewhere - or maybe in web settings in the browser.... I forget; I only know I've done it ! __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here. But this was the only universe which had a vacancy. ~ ~ (Granny from Hell) I is very deaf.
