Dutch Book, from 1517, contains Italian playing cards

Ende XVII. "

made in the year 1517

is described here:
http://www.ilab.org/db/book1091_5130.html

According to an older German description it contains copies of Italian playing cards between more than 200 illustrations

Does anybody know this text or knows, which pictures are presented in the text.?

Here is "Die cronycke" with introduction (as part of a bigger study), text and the illustrations.
There are no tarotcards involved.

I will dig deeper into this, as these Kronieken are new to me and I find it very interesting. Later more.

PS I will not translate the whole document of course but if you want to know about words or sentences or small parts then I would love to help.

Hi,
thanks, a nice finding. I can (when reading only) understand a little bit of Durch language, so I can help myself (80% or so).
It seems, that this is only a part (29 - 32) of the complete edition, and the whole seems to end with 32 (?). This part seems to be focussed on events in 15th century till 1516.
I found 9 picture pages only (nothing looks like playing cards) and the complete text should have more.

Perhaps one could contact the author ?

Thanks again, this looks really helpful.
It's nice to find here somebody of the Netherlands. We've another unsolved case in Dutch matters, see

http://trionfi.com/0/mi/21

Jan van den Berghe wrote a very early playing card text (1431) ... actually he earns some fame for it, cause it is (for the moment) beside

1377 Johannes of Rheinfelden ( http://trionfi.com/0/p/10/ )
ca. 1425 Martiano da Tortona ( http://trionfi.com/0/b/11/ )
1432 Master Ingold ( http://trionfi.com/0/mi/00/ )

one of the first authors with a longer text to playing cards. But he's more or less unknown. It seems, that his work was reprinted in last century and the text likely should be available in an easy way from a Dutch library.

Likely the text is in my hands of not the same value as in those of a native speaker. It's a good theme and worth to be considered, but it doesn't run away. If you find some time for it, I'll can patiently wait.

What do you think of writing to the author, who worked on the other text?
