Tarot Whispers at the House of Dusk
*dramatic pause* (but really less for the drama, and more for catching my breath because of saying the lengthy title) i figured i'd post this one as a different thread separate from the exhibit one. at the heart of it's my intent on experimenting with a different style (those who are familiar with my works would hopefully agree that the style of the deck does look different from what i've tried before), and doing a dark and sensual take on the tarot's majors. though some cards are featured in the exhibit Tarot Filipinas (and the lovers card is in Major Tom's wonderful Tarot Lovers' Calendar), i do plan on releasing a small-press limited ed release of this hopefully very very soon (as in, before the year ends! lol). so anyway, here are the images of the deck (some, i haven't finished yet): http://bluetoy.multiply.com/photos/a..._House_of_Dusk i'm not sure which of the two backs i'll be using, since, well, i dunno. i like the first one, but a friend told me perhaps it would be better for card backs to have a more abstract look to them... __________________ water my days with patient tears Last edited by blue_fusion; 14-11-2007 at 11:09. |

Hi Ly, I was just browsing before my bedtime here, those cards look very nice especially those borders, the colours on each cards compliment each other quite nicely very nice work, and i prefer the second back of card. Dean |

thanks for the comment, and yes, i'll probly using the more abstract back for the deck, since the other one might seem fussy to other people.

What a lovely deck! I like what I am seeing. Especially Strength and the Wheel of Fortune. Please put me on your list for the limited edition, Blue Fusion. I would love to have a copy .

Thanks for showing this Blue - lovely work. BTW, I would go for a back that is a bit more abstract than the first one, and a bit more decorative than the second - not sure if that helps though! __________________ The Magic Realist Press and Baba Studio Tarot of Prague Baroque Bohemian Cats' Tarot Fairytale Tarot Fantastic Menagerie Tarot Victorian Flower Oracle Victorian Romantic Tarot Bohemian Gothic Tarot Alice Tarot - 2013 |

Those are pretty. I'd like to see it when it's finished. I actually prefer the first back. It seems more in keeping with the style of the deck. I like Baba's thought, if you're going to go more abstract. |

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Where do I send the money??? *lol* Pre-order, pre-pay??? do you want my first-born??? *lol* To my eyes, just plain GORGEOUS, *vvvbs* I like the second option for the backs... but then, I'm very partial to diamond patterns... Ohhhhh, I'm waiting, waiting, waiting... and suffering too, *lol* __________________ 'Selfishness is being routed by Altruism. oh... my... Yes, I think you've managed to shift your style enormously (not that I didn't love the older one a lot). I have the feeling you'll rework what you have a time or two before you finalize the full deck, simply because you are working with something new, and six months from now you won't be quite satisfied with the first interpretations. But that will be up to you. I like what you've got a whole bunch. And my preference is for the first back - don't think it's fussy at all. Hmm... you don't have much allowance on the card fronts for rounding the corners, and adding that would mean enlarging the back design slightly if you want to keep the sizes relative. On the other hand, the more you have a large back design that needs to be centered, the more you have to watch the printer with an eagle eye. Many of the "simple" back designs are simply an overall repeat that don't necessarily have to be in register with the fronts of the cards - this can save some money when you're printing, because front to back registration can be fairly sloppy. Assuming I manage to keep coming back for a while (I hope to find the time on a regular basis, finally) this is one deck I'm going to be watching with great interest. __________________ "I can call spirits from the vasty deep."
