Hello from Zipporah
Hello there! i got interested in Tarot through Alan Moore and JH Williams III's comic book series, Promethea. The art is what initially attracted me, ("78 fun pictures?! i'm in!") so i started out with the Crowley deck bcause i love Frieda Harris' art. Soon after i was so bogged down trying to figure out the difference between Crowley and everyone else that i finally got a Rider-Waite deck to learn the basics. ("How can i tell the difference between Temperance and Art when i'm not even sure what a Querent is?!") i have many, many questions and am having much, much fun. |

cute name there, zipporah! and WELCOME! As already posted here, a querent is the person you are reading for. There are many great decks that are very artfully done, and then of course some plain decks too, where only the majors (the fool through the world) are done with pictures, leaving the minors to look much like a regular deck of cards. Anyhow, you'll soon find out a lot about tarot and the different decks here, and most probably will be adding to your collection of decks. The Rider-Waite is a good deck to begin with, but there are many other wonderful beginner decks too. So grab your deck and check out the different threads here and practice, practice, practice along with the rest of us! |

Hi zipporah, It is so long since I learned it is good to have beginners around to keep me aware of the many aspects of learning. It is an enjoyable journey. All the best, Marion |
