Celtic Animal Oracle

The cards are almost photographic in style - 'combine computer imaging with photographs and traditional drawings': same team that did the Fairy Ring and the Sacred Circle. The animals are in a naturalistic background, some in sunlight, some daylight, some at night (e.g. Hare against the moon, Cat snarling with the moon in the sky, Bear with the Great Bear stars in the sky).

They are around 3 inches by 5 1/2 inches, the images are just over 4 inches by just over 2 1/2 inches because there is a large white border around them which could come off - unless of course you don't recognise that a 'badger' picture is, in fact, the 'badger' card. The book is about 5 1/4 in x 6 1/4 in and just over 60 pages long, and gives a double page on each of the 25 animals with symbolism, meanings upright and reversed plus some info on spreads and reading the cards.

Animals are, I think, British/ Northern European.

There are fewer cards than the Druid Animal, some overlap and some are different. For example, you don't get a badger or a butterfly in the DAO. You get a Bear and a Boar in both. Keywords are slightly different e.g. DAO Boar is 'The Warrior Spirit, Leadership, Direction' and CAO is 'Assertiveness, Challenge, Courage'. But from what I can see these differences are subtle.

That's OK GC: I do actually like the deck and am in danger of re-enabling myself.

I've swapped this (Celtic Animal Oracle) for another deck.

Hey, TCO, good morning to you! Has your Fantastic Menagerie from the last train arrived yet? I am beginning to worry about it.

Oh Geez! I am sorry I forgot to tell you. I have been so busy, working way too much but I have 4 days of short afternoon shifts to get my breath.

It got here about a week ago, I only had a chance to go through it once... (and am right now as I type)... I found them whimsical and the artwork wonderful. I do not think I can read with them intuitively I do not relate to them on that level. For me they are a "art deck". I think they will end up on a train in the future, but I am so pleased you put them up for trade so I could experience them. They are a beautiful tarot deck, just not my cup of tea for reading. I think when people ask "what is a good deck for children" I might recommend this deck. Actually they are starting to grow on me they are like a box of fairy tales. May not be trading it for a while yet! Thanks again!
