But I also have seen A.E. Waite's name as a credit--either in the forward or perhaps editing...one early edition of Tarot of the Bohemians has a front cover design that 'is speculated' to have a Pamela Colman Smith design on the front cover...but there's much design mixing among that artistic group.

The latest translation into English by Beryl Stockman arrived at my door today. Much of the information says "Etteilla" and the delightful flavor of the majors/minors and the pseudo Egyptian pictures and soft language of being addressed as "Child of Earth" is music to my modern ears. I think this talks about the minors in a way that would be somewhat surprising--as they were partially illustrated and assigned a curious astrology...first time I see Decanates in the card design...

For me, Mary Greer's Timeline and the Decker and Dummett's History of the Occult Tarot really gives a good feel for some of the major names and players if one wants to go backward in time. I don't quite know if that is helpful as a supporting note. But you've probably also seen the Golden Dawn papers online already...
