2 of Cups - more than passion?

More than in any other kind of deck, this card suggests passion to me. Because of the two lion heads. But at the moment I don't want it to mean that. I have my reasons. What does it mean to you, my dear friends? Self-knowledge? A meeting of two like-minded people?

Have a look as some of the opinions of how this card may be read in post 3:

To me it says love more than passion when on it's own.

I attach two variations to look at. First the Noblet and the Marsiglia:

Hello Moonbow and all the good comrades here...

-At another forum I suggested that the 2 de COUPE could be a depiction of an opium bulb with all that it s implies...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Koeh-102.jpg

-So at a first glance one could or best should suppose that the two figures are opposites so a depiction of a certain duality, but looking carefully at both hasn t at least for me,a strong difference between them.
I mean as for example the two horses of VI card (Male the left,Female the right)

-So I m not see here an example or hidden meaning of duality, even if its related to our innermost or on an another side a gender sense.

-My conclusion, and of course just for me is that is a "Mirror" card,so one looking at himself,or worst see on others what others "must" see on ours.
So one searching himself in others ...
That s link for me to the Opium "Dream",so what one "want" to believe about oneself,so fall soon or later by this vision surely my friend ...

I can see a poppy pod too eugim, in both the decoration between the fish and the cups themselves. Actually, to correct my last post I can see this as passion with love, but not passion alone.

I agree, duality also is shown in this card, which can be seen in another person and not just by a mirror of oneself. We sometimes see ourselves in others, and are attracted by people like ourselves, especially when in love. Like attracts like.

Moonbow:
Of course I m agree, but I want to strongly suggest a more unconscious feelings, those which are aside of ours understanding or even out of ours control...
That comprise a wide rank of emotions of the human being between the sublime and evil, but allways unconscious.
That leave place of course to divine so God induction and Satan also,on ours emotions.
Could a women explain why she allways choose men that beat them ?
Or men that allways choose women that decieve them ?
I mean ever...
Opium were too much consumed in big quantities in Europe, also "created" many wars to ensure the control... (Just at the time of Tarot de Marseilles).
So I don t think that is "just my imagination" that I see it as it.
I m looking for books about Medieval Bestiaries with regard to those sort of fishes.
Surely I will end at Wikipedia or at Adam Mc Lean site...

-Now comes to my mind the gryphon at the top of X card.(So not an sphinx for me BTW).
Gryphon was a depiction of a guardian of the Divine,as the Pelican of Jesus.
Are Pelicans or Gooses those at VI card of Tarot de Paris ?
If there are goose thus may be conected with Spanish Templar symbols (Santiago de Compostela).

-As I said nice to meet you again Moonbow, because afterall we only are looking for a common avenue of "understanding" aside who, what, when, why bring to us something to left thinking us ahead... (Soon or more much later... )

I have agreed with your description of Poppy pod eugim so no need to look further for a common understanding or to assume that I say its your imagination, (although personally I don't see anything wrong with using imagination when using the Marseilles, whether that is for reading with it or for opening up areas of further research).

Also worth reading and re-reading is this great thread:

Moonbow:
Of coruse you didn t say that was my imagination,so I said.
Also I m agree with you, that is nothing wrong with imagination and in its just measure of course helps too much to liberate us from the strictly meaning of the cards as ever been said till now.

My best regards,

Eugim
