Hello, everyone. It's nice to meet everyone and be a part of this community. I have read many sections of this site before joining the forum. So here is a little bit about myself. Although I purchased my first deck of tarot cards 20 years ago, I have only recently begun to seriously study the tarot. I am also collecting a few decks. I am studying mostly using the Rider-Waite deck and I also enjoy the Rohrig deck. I read mostly for myself. It would be nice to find a tarot meet-up or other group so that I can do practice readings with other people. I do find my readings for myself contain much valuable information. I glean a lot from those readings and find them enjoyable. I am studying using two methods; first, memorizing certain keywords for each card; second, intuitively getting a feel for what a card means to me during a reading or just picking it up and looking at it. With studying in mind, I plan to purchase some tarot books, and have read the suggestions that aeclectic mentions. I will start a separate thread on my questions on tarot books (after first doing a search for similar questions), as some of them involve specifics that belong in another forum. My favorite deck is the Rohrig deck. I seem to get very good readings from that deck (!) and tend to use it for many of my personal readings. I have been keeping a journal of my readings. As for reversals, so far I haven't delved into them. I don't feel quite ready for them yet; too much information! I have read some of Thirteen's' interesting and helpful observations. For now, just getting a handle on the upright meanings is my primary goal. I keep both light and shadow meanings in mind, in the hopes that that will help with reversals in the future. I have had fun collecting decks and have a few so far! I really love the Lunatic tarot; the larger version is stunning with its amazing artwork, and the detail is so easy to see with the size of the cards. Some of the decks that I have besides the Rohrig are the Lunatic tarot, both the oversized and regular versions; Haindl, a limited edition deck called the Starlight Arcana Blue Cat tarot, Moon Princess tarot, and the Energy tarot. I have on order and should receive soon the (Yoshitaka) Amano tarot, the Derekkusu ban Hihou tarot, and the Meditation (Big Arukana 24) by Oki Mondo tarot. I can't wait to get those! Also on order is the Oracle Tarot and the Light and Shadow tarot. I am considering the Cary-Yale Visconti as my next purchase. Also I am extremely interested in Stella's Simple Tarot, the new upcoming to-be-released 78-card edition! Some decks I would love to own include: Alchemical Tarot black-and-white version limited to 150 copies OOP, Alchemisten OOP, Cocktail du Tarot, Daughters of the Moon tarot (black and white edition only, not full color) OOP, David's Tarot OOP, Ergomia Jeu de Tarot OOP, Gill Tarot OOP, Guardian tarot, Japanese Egyptian (white-on-black edition) OOP, The Star That Never Walks Around, Starlot Tarot OOP, Stella's Simple Tarot 78-card version. I also have really enjoyed a budding interest in crystals. I like to cleanse my new tarot decks under the light of a full moon or a new moon. It is easy to get hooked on the tarot! It is nice to meet everyone. :) Last edited by missy; 07-05-2008 at 11:19. |

Hello and welcome! It really is easy to get hooked on tarot! Way too easy sometimes; before you know it, it's the center of everything. Sounds like you've already got your footing and are ready to hop right in! Enjoy it here! __________________ Limitations live only in our minds. Thank you, Promise and nanab, for the warm welcome! ![]() Tonight I am spending time with a couple of my new decks, the Moon Princess deck in particular; going over the cards, studying their artwork, and also working on some memorizations of keywords. The cards in the Moon Princess deck are gorgeous! ![]() It's nice to be here; what a wealth of information this forum provides! |

Thank you, Lexie and Bec! ![]() I feel very welcome here. ![]() No more studying tonight! It's a new moon and I just put many of my tarot decks in the windowsill for a little moonlight. ![]() (Can you tell I discovered the emoticons section?! Eek!) I promise to stop overdoing it; but you do have some nice ones here. Ones for all the cards! How handy that will be! |
