(So below) Book of Shadows Vol. II - The Suits of Elementals (Correspondences), are as follows:

"Each suit has an Elemental correspondence. so we can see at a glance what kind of energy is involved in or influencing the situation in question."

In the Minor Arcana, the Elemental correspondences, replace the traditional suit names as commonly known. The traditional suit name are Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. In the Book of Shadows Vol. II, the suit names are as follows Salamanders (Wands), Undines (Chalices), Sylphs (Swords), and Gnomes (Pentacles). Each one represents the elements of Fire, Water, Air, and Earth energies.

You will notice that each suits has it's elemental (symbols) depicted in each cards image. unlike the traditional where you will see, ie: 6 of Swords with images of 6 swords, or 8 of wands, with 8 wands flying through the air. Instead you will see, ie: 6 of Swords a Sylph flying in the air, and the 8 of Wands, a Salamander sitting on an energy orb that's emanating from the Solar Plexus Chakra.

The Suit of Undines - Water - Chalices

The water spirits are called Undines. Climate: Cold and wet.

Undines are concerned with the movements of water and how they relate to human emotions and soul responses. They exist within the water itself and this is why they can't be seen with the naked eye (invisible).

These water spirits have the longest memory, for water holds memory.

Working with the Undines, you will be working with truth, loyalty, love, bonding and emotions with the All.

Undines teach you everything you need to know about your emotions if you let them, as well as show you things that you could only begin to imagine about both yourself and existence itself. Open your heart to them, open your wounds to them. Their strength is in their healing energies.

Water

If you have ever loved, you have experienced the element of water. Serenity is a result of Water's presence in our lives. Water is the most psychic of all the elements. It cleanses, nourishes and reflects. It is passive and malleable. It takes on the shape of whatever contains it. Water rules the emotions and the subconscious. If you have prophetic dreams, you are using the element of Water. If you are lonely, depressed, overwhelmed or having trouble opening your heart. Let Water clear the way for you.

To get water flowing in your life, the easiest, most accessible tool is the bathtub. Add essential oils, milk, honey to cleanse and nurture yourself.

Feeling compassion, shedding tears, and giving to charity are the workings of the gentle element. Scrying bowls, and table fountains are easy ways to get more Water into your life. Read poetry to get a feel for water's subtle soothing properties.

The Suit of Gnomes - Earth - Pentacles

The earth spirits are called Gnomes. Climate: Cold and dry

Gnomes live in the soil, underground, rocks, and guard the earth's treasures. Gnomes are usually depicted as being old, they can dissolve into the trucks of trees and in tree roots, to hide from humans. They are usually small in appearance as they have to tend to the earth.

Gnomes are usually good natured, hard working and reliable.

Gnomes are the hardest elementals to try and work with, because it takes a lot to gain their trust. They have become angry and disheartened with the humans for what they have done and are still doing to the earth. But once you show yourself to be true in heart and deed, they become the best friends to have. Don't betray the trust of a Gnome. Be careful what you promise, Gnomes will hold you to your word. They have been known to will you bad luck for betraying them.

They are very helpful of those who have established a connection with them through prior acts of kindness and are considerate of nature and treat it well.

Earth

When you eat, exercise or save money, you are interacting with the Earth element. Stability is earth's unique gift. Seeing, smelling, tasting and touching are functions of earth. Earth is solid, rich, sultry, strong and dependable. It is the foundation for all the other elements.

Earth is commitment, permanence, form. It is facts and law, practicality and consequence. Earth is about getting results. Poverty, insecurity, safety issues, obsessions and a sense of being "weak willed" or incapable can all be resolved with earth.

If you would like to strengthen your connection to Earth, put your bare feet on the ground, walk, run, jump. Let the immovable nature of the Earth element support you. You could also plant a garden or start a house plant on a window sill. Roots such as potatoes, carrots, beets, and turnips are known as "grounding" foods that can increase your personal Earth energy.

Learn to respect and accept yourself. Define what dignity is to you. Stimulate your senses. work with your hands. Knit, sew, carve, string beads, or do pottery. Place stones or a dish of sea salt on your altar, or wear a hematite pendant to represent the Earth in your spiritual workings. Strive to be at home in your body.

The fire spirits are called Salamanders. Climate: Hot and dry


The Salamanders live in the present, for the here and now, and therefore, do not have a good memory. Salamanders are able to withstand and extinguish fire, due to the're a cold blooded creature. Without these beings, fire cannot exist. You cannot light a match without a salamander being present.

Salamanders are also considered to be very poisonous, so much so, that a person would die from eating the fruit from a tree, which a salamander had entwined itself around.

Salamanders inspire passion, creativity, action that must be taken now, beware don't let them burn you out!

Salamanders will always help people who are friendly towards them and keep their heart fires burning.

On the spiritual level, they help to awaken the Kundalini. Invite the salamanders to spice up your love life! They thrive on and give drive to sexual energy (kundalini). The Salamanders know nothing of shame of sexuality in human traits, especially not salamanders who will glow with glee if you let them feel your awakening.

Salamanders are not for everyone because of their temperamental nature, but it is no use getting stressed or annoyed with them. This is simply who they are and is the only way they know how to be. They would have no memory of what you are annoyed at them for. It is through this dynamic nature that they can teach you of patience, prudence and tolerance of others.

Fire

Have you ever really, really wanted something! That's fire. Fire is desire, it is dynamic, passionate, bold, enthusiastic, active and hopeful. fire is the life principle. It provides heat and light. It is the element of Spirit. fire is charming, flamboyant and inspirational. Fire transforms. If you would like to improve your sense of humor or build courage, confidence, or motivations, look to Fire.

To open up to the power of Fire within you, you can light a candle and see what the living flame has to show you. Watch a sunset and take in the brilliance of this vital element. If you really want a mega dose try dancing around a camp fire and watch the way the fire dances with you. Let the heat of the Fire element penetrate and warm your soul. Competitive sports and games are also good ways to stimulate the spark of Fire in your life.

Do something spontaneous. Search within for your purpose. Set some life goals for yourself. Complete a task you've been meaning to finish. Learn to trust your intuition. Listen to a motivational tape or energize yourself with affirmations. Empower yourself with divine thoughts and let your ideals awaken.

The Suit of Sylphs - Air - Swords

The air spirits are called Sylphs. Climate: Hot and wet

Sylphs have the highest elemental vibratory rate.

Sylphs live on the tops of mountains. They often assume human form, but only for a short period of time. They usually have wings, looking like fairies, or cherubs.

Sylphs are elusive creatures, almost as hard to get to know as the Gnomes, but only because we must get to know our own "minds" and our "will" before we can even touch them.

Sylphs are lonely beings who would like to be more connected to us if they could, but they live in the space between dimensions and their interactions with us are limited. We can connect with them through meditation and conscious journeying, but we must be aware to keep our emotions (Undines - water) in check, or we will not reach them.

Sylphs are drawn to those who use their minds, particularly those on creative arts. Sylphs, when contacted can bring forth realisations and epiphanies. They can make the mind tingle with electricity and mental power, literally take you to another level and teach you much about both spiritual evolution and the evolution of the mind. Their energy can be intoxicating to all those who are not balanced and strong within themselves, and they can leave you paraniod, schizophrenic, and insane.

Sylphs are usually sympathetic of human endeavours and for the most part their actions towards them are kindly and thoughtful. The Sylphs can have a profound and powerful influence on the human mental body and thought and they are responsible for being the primary impetus behind both inspirational are and inventions.

Air

Every time you think or communicate, you are drawing on the element of Air. Our connections with others are formed through Air. Air is the most elusive of all the elements. It is uncontainable, unseen, and changeable. Whenever you seek insight, discover a new idea, change your mind, clarify a vision, develop a plan or concentrate on your breathing, you are becoming Air. Air is intellect, Truth, and Wisdom. If you have difficulty making decisions, taking action, understanding or being understood, Air can help you.

To awaken your connection to the Air element, open your windows and clear the air around you, by burning some incense or smudging your home with sage. Play music that inspires you or go outside and feel the wind on your face. Pay attention to the way it masters its own destiny, moving constantly. It's flexibility makes it unstoppable. try to block it with your hand. It will only go around.

Singing and toning, whistling, even dancing are all Air activities. Crystal singing bowls and tuning forks are useful tools for invoking Air energy. Inventors utilize the element of Air, read biographies of inventors to understand the inner workings of Air.
