I believe the Aquarius glyph is based on the similar Egyptian heiroglyph.
The water pourer, pouring water out from pots - the main way of irrigating high fields after the annual Nile innundation, that was signalled by Sopdet, the star Sirius (see The Star - Thoth Tarot.)
