Dream About Spliced Tarot Cards

I had a dream awhile back that was much more detailed than a simple tarot card popping up, but I need your help on the tarot card part. If you need more dream details, though, I'll share that, too. For the moment, I just plan to detail the tarot card portion, and if you want the extra dream details (if you wanna hear the whole thing) for clarity, just ask.

At some point in the dream- towards the end, I believe- a guy who was a character earlier in the dream (a porn actor) suddenly appears behind me. I can't recall if he was naked, in boxers, or what, but he was hunkered down towards the ground....maybe on his haunches. I dunno. He was a larger guy, and had tattoos, but I don't remember much else for certain about him. I think he might have been bald.....not sure. Anyway, at first, I didn't care much for him. I thought he was prob. a pervert.

It seems I am remembering something I had forgotten. I think he might have had skulls on him and maybe some blue roses or something.....but maybe that was from another dream. I just remember complimenting someone's color on their roses....and maybe their skulls. Anyway, whether that was in this dream or not, there was a tattoo that was definitely in this dream. The guy says to me, "I want to show you something." I said okay, and he held out his arm- his right arm (my left side, as I face him), I THINK. Anyway, on the underside......the side with the tender side of the wrist.....he has this tattoo a bit above his wrist. It's a tarot tattoo. It looks like the hermit card from my Zerner-Farber deck, but the number on it was ELEVEN. In my dream, I didn't register that the number didn't fit the card. However, he tells me, "It means, 'Protecter.'" I was thinking to myself that it was the hermit card and I've never known it to mean such a thing.....yet, it touched me. I suddenly liked this man, kneeling in front of me, wanting me to see specifically, this tattoo that meant "Protecter."

Well, when I awoke, I remembered that eleven was the Justice card. So, subconsciously, I knew this the whole time. What do you think the hermit card, spliced with the justice card, meaning (according to the wearer in my dream), "Protecter," means?

That's a really interesting dream.

Since the Hermit means knowledge from within, and Justice is all about seeing both sides, I think your protector stands for someone who knows (through a personal revelation) that the right thing to do is to keep you from harm.

There might be something difficult in your life coming soon. Since the tarot card relates to trumps, I don't think it's an individual person who will help you, but perhaps some part of your subconscious knows it already and is trying to tell you it can help shield you? Do you have any Libra or Virgo influences in your astrological chart (you can find out at www.astrotheme.com, click the union jack for english)? That could also have something to do with it. If not, then I'd say it might have something to do with Libran or Virgoan qualities.

Also, the fact that the guy was a porn actor might have some significance. I know you said in your deck (as is the same in many others) 11 is Justice, but in the Thoth Deck it's Lust (Leo). The card stands for the rapture of vigor, basically the power of partaking in love. This card is more physical than the Lovers, and can be thought of as the basic coming together: just sex, two becoming one without any rituals. Was he tough-looking or muscular? Did he seem somewhat raw and beast-like to you? Those qualities would fit in with the masculine aspect of the card.

Lust also has something to do with hermits according to the book of Thoth. It says that "...these (Knowledge and Delight) be grave mysteries; for there are also of my friends who be hermits. Now think not to find them in the forest or on the mountain; but in beds of purple, caresses by magnificent beasts of woman...." The description also mentions that the hermits are "prophets" and drink and other thinks or activities considered vices do not make them sinners in the eyes of God. So it also seems to tie in with the fact that the man with the hermit tattoo is a porn actor.

Do any of the signs mentioned above have any significance to you? Do any of them relate to someone you know? I also think since the cards represented are trumps, IF you have any influence in any of the signs above, fate might raise the strength of those signs within you to help protect you.

What was the mood of the dream? Did you feel anxious and upset at any time? Your indifferent attitude to the porn guy may symbolize you're feeling somewhat complacent now, unaware what may come to pass.

Hermit requires that you retreat from a given situation in order to find an answer to whatever dilemma you are facing. Justice is also about finding an answer, weighing you all the evidence in order to reach a fair and just verdict. Justice can be considered the protector truth and honesty, she carries a sword afterall. Justice is supposed to protect one's rights and is also supposed to protect the innocent.

Hi to both of you- Sun_Seed and WillowFox. I appreciate the comments. I found both of your responses to be interesting and well thought out, and they got me to thinking. I will respond to both of you in this post in turn, but you are both welcome to read and respond to both of my replies (anyone can obviously, and that's fine by me)-

WillowFox- Thank you for your response. You are right- Justice can definitely be seen as a protector and I can see how you are tying hermit into this. I had not thought about how Justice is about finding an answer and the hermit is about retreating to find an answer, but that makes sense. In that way, they do blend together very nicely. Good thinking. Do you think the dream might have been saying that I needed to retreat to think of some just and fair answer to an issue in my life?

Sun_Seed- Thank you for your reply. I'm glad you found the dream interesting. I find dreams fascinating and always like hearing other people's and sharing my own.

Don't worry about asking questions. It doesn't bother me and just shows you are interested in answering this as best you can. Um, as for the Libra and Virgo influences- I am not sure what time I was born, but I put what time I THOUGHT I was born into the site you gave me. IF that time is the accurate time, then according to the site you showed me, I have Libra in two planets and one house (3 total influences in my birth chart), but not Virgo.

I did not know that 11 was Lust in the Thoth deck (unless I forgot it consciously and remembered it subconsciously). I have never really seen the deck off line and have only seen some of the cards, but that is interesting considering that the guy was a porn actor. He was not muscular, that I can recall, and I would not say he seemed beast like. He was somewhat subdued in his personality, actually. I mean, not weak, but he was just not aggressive or intense. However, he was a larger man, and some might say his large size was sterotypically masculine. He was not what I would call obese or "fat," but he was definitely a larger man. Also, some people might consider him having tattoos as something that would make him seem "tough," which is a stereotypically masculine trait, though most of us know women can be tough, too. I will say that I find it very interesting that Lust is connected to hermits in the Thoth deck.

You asked if any of the signs mentioned above have significance to me or relate to someone that I know. Do you mean the Libra and Virgo astrological signs or do you mean symbols in general? Libra and Virgo do not really make me think of people I know, but there might be connections I am unaware of.

As for the other symbols- the hermit card reminds me somewhat of a few people, actually. The justice card, maybe a bit, too, especially if I'm looking at the card from a particular deck I own. More noteably, the guy (porn star) sort of vaguely reminds me of a couple of people, but again- it's vague. I don't remember him as clearly now. One of those people was someone I had only met a couple times before, but they became more of a part of my life sometime after the dream. Not immediately afterwards, but not a long time in the future, either. However, I think the dream might be connected to my ex-boyfriend and the porn guy COULD be seen as related to him, but I'm not sure. The main reason I think the dream is connected to him, is not about the porn star himself. A dream that I had shortly before this dream had pornography as a theme and my ex was a main charcater in that dream, though not a porn actor. A night or two later, I had this second dream regarding pornography.

As for the dream's mood- It changed around. In the beggining of the dream (there was more to it than just the part with the guy), I was concerned about someone else in the dream and I thought I was almost trying to protect her. I was a bit concerned someone else was going to be upset with me for it, but I was trying to help her anyway. Someone else in the dream ended up really angry, but not with me. They were angry with a mutual friend of ours. I also felt rushed at one point. Plus, I was kind of confused. I also felt a bit negatively towards the guy at first. I wasn't terribly disgusted by him or enraged or anything, but he rubbed me the wrong way emotionally because I thought he was probably a pervert, but I didn't REALLY know him. However, I tried to be polite (hey, I didn't KNOW that he was a jerk or pervert, so why treat him like one?), yet somewhat distant, and then he showed me his tattoo of the tarot card, told me what it meant to him, and I automatically warmed to him. I actually kind of liked him at that point. I will prob. post the whole dream in a little while so you can get more details from it if needed.

I was thinking again about the card, you said that it was definitely no. 11, well that could only be Justice and like I said before that card can stand for protection. Hermit has nothing to do with being a protector. So, I would concentrate on what Justice has to do with your situation.

Ah ok ^^; I got kinda carried away cause I just bought the thoth book that night ^^; I agree with what willowfox said though, focus on Justice.
