Gothic Tarot of the Vampires- 3 The Empress

Magi

This card shows a female kindred nuzzeling a man's neck, looking as if she is prepaired to bite. This card has a very pale tone to it, mabey implying that the woman is waiting for her newly embraced lover to awaken from the psudo death that happens during the embrace. Her blood is strong, able to be passed on to others with out fear of the prosess being a failure. In the kindred world she is one of the fertile.
The LWB referes to this card as passion. This is one of the forces that further both the human & kindred species. With out passion the desire to procreate would be allmost nonexestante. This shows the shadow side of the desire ti mary & have children. kindred cannot have children, they must turn others to what they are, never knowing the bonds of paternal love a mortals do.

It is a sweet moment between two people. There is some tenderness and care in the woman's gesture. She seems to care and being passionate. She seems to take extra care in his well-being.

Now I like this card.
It's about creation for sure, but not in life. Death brings about Immortality. Albeight at a high price. She fills her hunger, her need... by creation. Now does she nurture the newly created vampire, who knows.
Also it seems her lover is peaceful about the change...she gives him serenity.
This card also suggests the power of the female, to seduce...just like we saw with the Magician for a male.
The other thought would be it's about using your resources...using them all up. Draining the life from him and not creating another type of being. Sort of like clear-cutting some land and not replanting it.

For a card that represents passion and rapture, per the LWB, there is no use of passionate colors here. All the passion is shown in her posture and expression. Even the man is static.

The Empress is engrossed in her companion, reveling in his taste and heat and smell. There is tenderness and dominance in this picture. She is a creator and she loves her creations. But is the man created to be her victim or her child?

The practicalities of the journey the High Priestess shows is revealed here.
This is the first time we see the fangs of a vampire. Also the talons that were very subtle in the Magician are in full view on the Empress.

All the deck is a snapshot of different moments form different stories (but all stories are maybe the same), created in sequence.
What began in the Fool... came to the Magician... the veil of mistery and charm was lifted in the high priestess... and now in the Empress it is the first time the Sire and the Child are able to truly understand each other.
A frail passion... a frail peace... a frail love... a frail nurturing, but it is nevertheless.

The woman and man’s eyes are shut. They seem serene and calm. If this is passion, it’s the good type, the calming light and welcoming passion. The blues and grays in this card are soothing. He is her lover and her creation--- and perhaps nourishment for her.
