how to tell sugilite from charoite?

prudence

I thought this might do better if I made it a separate thread.
How can you tell sugilite from charoite? I have a strand of beads, they are not amethyst, but I can't tell if they are sugilite or charoite. Any hints?
Thanks for your time!

I only have 1 piece of each but I think Sugilite has is more purple and black where Charorite is more purple.
From The Crystal bible:
Appearance
Charorite:mottled, swirled and veined often small-medium tumbled or polished
Sugilite:eek:paque, lightly banded or, rarely, translucent , all sizes, often tumbled
