Kazanlar XIII, the Arcanum without a Name

Mythic

The image of the old man in the smoke following the path up to a skull catches my attention first. What at first glance seems to be the skulls bony hand seems to actually be another old man with a stick, further up the path into the skulls mouth, which I take to be death.

It is not clear where the smoke is coming from. It could be painted on the wall, emanating from or from behind the couple or, most likely, from the djinni-like cloud appearing out of the golden jug that sits before the couple.

The golden jug has on it's surface two figures in an embrace. Once figure (gender unclear) holds onto a woman. The embrace of the ambiguous figure reminds me of a monkey or young child embracing his or her mother, although it could be an adult in grief. It is possible that it is a lovers embrace, but this seems less likely.

The couple in the djinni-like cloud coming forth from the jug, in contrast, are clearly a man and woman in an amorous relationship. The man behind inclines his head towards the woman. She reaches her arms up over her head and behind her to embrace him.

The main figures sit on a cushion, which sits upon an intricate rug that has flowers and writing woven into it. Their relationship is clearly close and of long standing. They are probably a married couple, although it is possible they are family (a brother and sister?). In any case, they are clearly very comfortable together. They hold cups in their hands, stretched towards the golden jug (an offering? a toast?) and the man holds a long-necked bottle.

There is a black ornament on the woman's head dress that reaches up into the smokey path the old man follows. There appear to be crisp, black "cracks" in the path coming off of this ornament.

The floor under the couple and the rug has a checker-board pattern, and there is a low wall of alternating pink and green bricks behind them. Part of the wall, a backdrop for the smoke, is pink and goes all the way up, with ornate work along the sides and top. On the left side, it opens up into a window with a red curtain pulled aside, revealing a plant growing nearby and a mountain in a cloudy sky. There seems to be at least one face (like the man in the moon) on the top left of the mountain.

As with the other cards in the deck, the borders are filled with ornaments and writing. The circle on the bottom appears to be a crow on a skull.

The main color is purple and pink.
