I translate and compile as I go, sorry for the akward phrasing.

My 2 main references are:

- "La Divination par les cartes du petit Lenormand" Erna Droesbeke
- "Apprenez a tirer les cartes avec le jeu de Mademoiselle Lenormand" Andre Stern et Chris Delor

Plus the little booklets that came with my decks (Mystical Lenormand and Lo Scarabeo's Lenormand).
The "Brasilian" meanings are from the net.

I agree- I see this card to reflect mental ability and intellect. This is all about the power of will/intention. It also signifies work on the astral level and magickal ability.

The magical meanings you mention for 11 Whip(s) are interesting.

I wonder if the 'magical' meaning has arisen during the last 8 years or so
since all things pagan & occult have become so commonplace now.

I wonder what the original meaning was?

Hello Bee-

The magical meaning is associated with the Afro-Brazilian cults (Umbanda, Quimbanda, Candomble, etc.....) which have been around A LOT longer than 8 years!

Remember this is in reference to the Brazilian version of Baralho Cigano which varies greatly from the standardized meanings.....

Hope this clears up your question....

Cheers Shuvano.

Sorry, late replying...

Thank you for clearing that up for me. Seems the Lenormand card meanings have developed according to the country or belief system that they have come into contact with.

Thinking now that they'll be as indepth as the tarot is said to be.
