OIling a shiva lingam?

Aure

I bought some sandalwood oil and jojoba oil and I'm thinking of oiling the two shiva lingams I have here at home. Do you think it would be okay to use these oils?

The reason I'm considering this is because I heard that the rocks are originally treated like this in India. I also noticed that the bigger one we have feels much more smoother and oilier than the smaller one and I started to think I might oil it to make the texture better.

Okay, so I'm officially gone gaga with my rocks... Soon I'll be sprinkling jasmine flowers on them and dancing around with brass bells... :D

Phallus symbols

The shiva lingams are phallus (lingam) symbols of an ancient pantheistic religion which worshipped the phallus and the yoni (symbol of vagina) as the sources of power and fertilitity.

Oiling the lingams (phallus) with scented oils was practiced to energise the phallus and release its inherent power.

I agree, you should oil your shiva lingam, keep them upright not laying on
the side. Surround them with flowers, they will love that. You are in tune
with your shiva lingam stones. Enjoy.
