birch is seen as the Ogham of new beginnings, new tasks,cleansing, broom making, but also feminine and related to the moon.
Another Birch pole stands next to it, also beribboned and crowned with a reef of Flowers.
Is this already the May pole?
Behind it a Hart is standing looking back into the scene, probably listening to the Fairy, that is presently playing a pan pipe and dancing to his/ her own tune. Just now he/ she is passing by the ripe capsule of a Poppy Flower, into which a humanoid figure is carved. Will they harvest the sap to aid them in entering an altered state of awareness? I an sure the people back then well knew about the properties and uses of Poppies.
